Travelers' Choice
Situated in one of Edinburgh's finest Georgian streets this is a rare combination, the charm of a country house hotel with a cosy club atmosphere. Founded in 1919 as a tribute to those who fell in The Great War The Royal Scots Club is proud of its heritage. Courtesy, personal service and warm hospitality are at the very heart of the Club.

We stayed at The Royal Scots Club for a couple of nights during our trip across Scotland in August 2023. We found its location to be ideal - away from the noisy and crowded touristy area, but close enough to other areas such as Stockbridge. The receptionists were polite and helpful, and the hotel itself had a very interesting history.

Another trip to Scotland and another stay at The Royal Scots Club. This time we had dinner and we were so glad that we did. The service, the ambiance and the food were all excellent. So much better than the noisy city eateries. The sea bass was excellent and the tartlet of the day had the best pastry ever. A quiet evening meal was enjoyed before retiring to our well appointed room in the annex. The reception kept our heavy luggage that we did not need which enabled us to only carry our overnight bag downstairs to the annex. They also held it the next day until 2pm which was great. We enjoyed our stay so much that we brought our son there for lunch a few weeks later while in Edinburgh for the day. Very quiet and relaxing.

This is an excellent place to stay in an ideal location in Edinburgh just a short walk to the centre of the city. Adjacent parkland is an added advantage. Great to see the heritage displayed with portraits and memorabilia.

Lovely atmosphere and both restaurant and bar great value. Staff were very engaging and helpful during our 3 night stay. Comfortable walking distance to central Edinburgh of about 15-20min. Stuart the dog was just delightful!

An outstanding venue for private dining with excellent food and service. The Hepburn suite set the tone for hosting friends from the USA. The staff are friendly and very attentive ensuring you have everything you require during your stay. Ideal location for all transport links to and from the city.

Located in the New Town of Edinburgh, thus close to the City Centre, the hotel was a great place to stay, even for one night. The family room (15) was also gorgeous and very comfortable, with lot of equipments included.

Had an excellent 1 night stay here. Booked a family room as we were a party of 4 as unlike mist hotels did not have to book 2 rooms so a big plus. Only a short walk to Princes Street and close to all the attractions. Very quite at night and bar is very reasonable and the breakfast the next day was slso lovely. If you are a family of 4 this is by far way better than either a Travelodge or Holiday Inn as you are all in one room. Will definitely be back.

our room wasn't cleaned when we arrived, so we got a half a room with child sized furniture and no space around the bed whatsoever. nothing like I was shown when I booked the room. I was so wrong thinking it would be a treat to stay in a club in New Town. don't choose this one.
