This easy hotel is not a hotel, this is a pod. Your room has a bed no wardrobes no draws nothing no tea or coffee facilities absolutely nothing, the bathroom is slightly bigger than you get on an aircraft, this room cost us £250 for 3 nights, not good at all and disgusting for the money they charge, Premiere inn just down the street was £87 per night and you get a proper room with all the facilities. I will never use this pod again, especially for the crazy amount they ask for the room. More room in a two man tent. Avoid avoid avoid.
I arrived at the hotel and I was very efficiently checked in. The website makes it clear that the hotel has no lift and the size of the rooms booked. The location in Edinburgh couldn’t be more central. I couldn’t say I had a problem staying here and will do again I was asked if I needed any recommendations for Edinburgh on checkout an I was able to leave my bag.
Do your research and don't believe the 'company' supplied photos as they are clearly made to look inviting BUT this hotel is not inviting in any way. We know it's a 'budget' hotel.....but there is budget and then there is BUDGET! £44 for a night in a capsule....don't be fooled into thinking you are getting a room.....it's a capsule......and CLEARLY not big enough for the double bed that was in it...the bed was wedged in against the wall with no room for anyone over 6ft tall to stretch out. You open you door, step inside and that's it.....two steps in is the bed, adjacent to the toilet/shower cell (oh...and you can't open the door to the toilet cell without whacking it against the bed). There is barely enough room in the shower to move. There is a nice little notice in the shower telling people that excessive steam from the showers can set of the alarms.....would be nice if the shower heated up enough to produce ANY steam, let alone excessive. The walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING from other inmates.....their snoring, their TV, their toilet when they flush etc etc. We have stayed in Easyhotels abroad and paid less for a bigger ACTUAL room. We will not be returning to this property and would advise others not to stay here......just along the road there is a Premier Inn...pay a few extra pounds to go there and get some semblance of comfort. Note for the owner.....do not respond to this with the generic 'we are a budget hotel blah blah blah' 'We could have done something about it if you had told us blah blah blah.' you have had enough negative comments in other reviews to know there are issues but they just seem to occur time after time. We KNEW what to expect....the 'Easy' brand is well known for it....but what we encountered was way BELOW budget....and in no way could what we stayed in be called a) a room and b) a hotel. On a plus side, the ONE member of staff we encountered was very pleasant, polite and helpful. DO NOT STAY HERE ITS NOT WORTH THE MONEY....EVEN IF IT IS A BUDGET LOCATION …
Very good value for money, £66 a night just before Xmas 2022 (I would not have gone to Edinburgh had it been the normal £160+ a night for other hotel chains). Location - Good. Size of rooms - It is, what it is (you know this when booking). What let’s down the whole experience. Showers - Cold on 2 out of the 5 days I stayed there. Rooms - they are not cold, but can be quite stuffy. Bag charge - £2.50 per bag (for them to look after it for 12 hours after check out).
Very small and compact. Basics provided for, no extras or frills Close to city center Close to Edinburgh castle No free tea or no free coffee Smooth and Easy check-in Close to High street, so easy access to nearby restaurants
After looking through the pictures after my friend booked this hotel, I honestly thought it really couldn’t be as small as it seemed, I was wrong! This was the smallest room I have ever stayed in, Harry Potters cupboard under the stairs was probably bigger than our room, the floor space was that small my friend had to sit on the bed while I was changing or while one of us was getting dry, there just wasn’t and room to do anything at all. The windows are single glazed, and honesty there may as well have been a piece of paper there in its place because you could literally hear every single noise that was going on outside, you could hear conversations as if you would stood right next to the people talking. Which happened all through the night. The first night we got there we pulled back the cover and there was no sheet on the bed, only a mate was protector which was absolutely filthy, there was hairs on it, which weren’t ours, there was a blood stain and what appeared to me some sort of smear mark, my friend went to reception and was handed a new mattress protector that was in the packet. You can’t control the temperature of the bedroom, it was freezing cold, I rang reception multiple times and asked them if they could put the heat on in the bedroom, it was so cold the blind was wet through condensation, at no point was there heat coming from the radiator that was in the room, or the air ducts, it resorted in us asking for a plug in heater for the room. Outside of this the staff were very polite and other than the bed situation the room was clean and smelt clean. However if you’re planning on staying here I would probably just stay somewhere further out for less money and just get the tram into town as it’s very cheap. The only thing that save this experience for me was the view of the castle. …
Read the reviews! We booked this and kept checking the reviews but thought they couldn’t be as bad as people said, they definitely weren’t lying. The rooms are absolutely tiny, I can’t think of any other way of describing it than a shoe box! It may be suitable for one person for a few nights but for 2,absolutely not! We were climbing over each other to get to the toilet and one of us had to sit on the bed whilst the other opened the toilet door. We opted for a window room and what a mistake that was, the window may aswell be a piece of paper, it was absolutely freezing in the room, we asked for the heating to be on- which is controlled by the receptionist, neither time did any heating come on, they gave us a little plug in radiator, the window was dripping with condensation, and you can hear the literal conversations of people on the street below. The staff were Friendly enough, have no issues with them. You could sit on the toilet and turn the shower on from it as the bathroom was like a port a potty. No tea or coffee in the rooms, so take some refreshments with you! All in all, I would never ever stay again, for £400 it would definitely be worth something else!…
Read description before you visit! I was traveling solo in October and decided to go with a hotel that was central and within walking distance of everything. The location was perfect with a lovely view of the castle from the door of the hotel. Since its a budget hotel (comparing the prices of the hotels on the same street) you pay for what you get. I had my own lovely small room with a double bed and a bathroom to myself - that's all I wanted! The room and the bathroom were very clean. The room had very limited space but there was space under the bed to store luggage and when traveling solo I didn't need much space especially since I spent most of my day traveling around the city anyway. Would definitely stay again.
Please keep in mind this is a low-cost hotel. This said, I got exactly what I was looking for: a quite & clean private room in a very good location. This is a good option for those with a very busy sightseeing schedule that come back to the hotel just to sleep. The reception staff is great, super helpful!
I have stayed at EasyHotels before so I am no stranger to their smallness. These rooms are no different but have no issue with that as that is what I expected. I stayed in windowless room but realised now this is not for me. For one or two nights it may not be an issue but any longer and I would recommend against it. Also if you are staying in their smaller rooms best you be a single traveller as they are not suitable for two persons with luggage. It is a budget hotel so the finishings in the room are not perfect, the walls are thin and you will hear your neighbours from time to time. The rooms themselves were clean enough however. This hotel has narrow stair access, no lifts, so with large cases be prepared to struggle. The hotel is located close to everything. I have no complaints about staying here, as it was everything I expected, but if you intend on staying yourself - my advice for what it is worth is do your research as to the size of room you are getting and weigh it up against whether it is an acceptable trade off to the money you are saving.…
