I love this place. It is so relaxing and comfy. The breakfast is delicious, especially the continental one you can have delivered to your room. This is my hotel of choice whenever I visit Edinburgh. Highly recommended.

Owned by the Fraser Hospitality Group who normally offer impeccable properties, this one looks and feels like it is still trying to iron out the kinks. It is marketed as a 'quirky' chain of hotels (Malmaison) by Fraser's but this doesn't paper over the cracks - a real mixed bag of staff on the front desk, from helpful to down...

My daughter and I went for her 21st birthday - we had good recommendations from friends about it and it's perfectly situated for all the lovely Leith bars and excellent famous restaurants if you don't want to eat in the hotel every night. We loved our tasty fine dining lunches there and breakfast was fabulous too. The Spanish waiter was...

Hotel is a bit isolated although some very nice restaurant bars close by. First impressions on arrival at reception were tired, dark and lacked atmosphere. Check in was quick and staff very friendly and helpful. Mal standard double room lacked light and was somewhat dark and dingy. Bed was very comfortable. Decided not to eat in as restaurant simply lacked...

Stayed at the Malmaison in Edinburgh over Easter and while we were really excited by the pictures on the website we were quite disappointed when we got there. It is clean and the location is spot on, but that's about it. It was ridiculously overpriced for what it actually was. The first room we got allocated was tiny, dusty, and...

Dear Gari D Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am pleased that you found the hotel to be clean and that you really like our location on The Shore in Edinburgh. I am sad however that you feel the hotel was not value for money. As you stayed over Easter weekend, our room rates would...

Just had another fabulous stay at the Malmaison Edinburgh. As always the standard of accommodation and service was of a very high standard. Fabulous room upgrade and lovely surprise chocolate and card for our Anniversary. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We will recommend, and we will definitely return

We stayed here as a base for visiting Tom Kitchin's restaurant for which it is ideally situated. The hotel itself is very nice and the room was comfortable and clean. One fault was that there appeared to be only one small lift for guests to get to their rooms. We spent several minutes waiting at times - not ideal. Also,...

Well we have just woken up after a dreadful nights sleep here at the Malmaison Edinburgh. Positives: the hotel is lovely. Reception staff were lovely. When we checked in we were told we could upgrade to a suite for £35 - we did as we are here for a special occasion) and are so glad we did. The room is...

Very comfortable stay. Service ok. Breakfast average. Quiet room enabled a good sleep after a late night. Breakfast choice quite good but nothing really stood out. Friendly service, easy parking and convenient location for nearby restaurants.

We have visited the Malmaison on quite a few occasions and decided to treat friends for a 60th birthday. When I booked I explained that my husband and our friend were both celebrating 60th birthdays. Katerina welcomed me warmly as a returning guest and informed us that both rooms had been upgraded and had lovely views out over the water,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's the mother of all Malmaison's. The former house of ill-repute now has a reputation that's second to none, and it's also just a short taxi ride away from Waverley Station. Malmaison Edinburgh bides at Leith (as they say up here), just a stone's throw from the Royal Yacht Britannia, but offering far more funky luxury. Yes, when you want exciting hotels in Edinburgh, this is the King, not the castle. Our Edinburgh hotel puts you close to all of Edinburgh's cobbled splendours, incredible shopping and famous galleries. Then it's back to Mal for Scots dining with a twist, a fine selection of single malts and mojitos in the bar and then back to the slinkiest and most spectacular rooms in the Scots capital. ... more   less
