The hotel is ideally situated, at the top of Edinburgh High Street on the Royal Mile. This was a two day stay at the end of a Great Rail Journey group tour (not recommended.) The hotel reception staff were pleasant and helpful throughout our stay and our room was cleaned and made daily. The room was quiet, overlooking Niddy Street, and despite overlooking the service entrance to the hotel the room was very quiet, clean and with all the facilities expected of a first class hotel. The room was cleaned and bed made daily, thank you. The breakfast was self-service, but as a vegetarian I had to order a cooked breakfast, which was even better as it arrived freshly cooked. Continental breakfast was available, as were pastries, juices, fresh fruit etc. Our first night’s stay was at the end of a Great Rail Journey tour and I quote, “This evening we enjoy a farewell dinner as part of a ‘Great Scots Evening’, where we are entertained by a Scottish piper and regaled with all manner of fascinating Scottish stories and snippets of local history. We also sample a menu of traditional Scottish dishes to round off our final night,” The Scottish entertainment was very enjoyable, and as a vegetarian, I expected a vegetarian alternative, not an Italian Lasagne. No imagination. The head waiter was insistent that all he could offer was a lasagne. I checked the hotel main menu which offered both vegetarian and vegan dishes and spoke to reception who agreed a lasagne was a poor equivalent to what the remainder of the diners were eating and I was able to order a decent main meal. The hotel parking is very expensive and I had arranged parking with the Just Park App (highly recommended.). There is limited space to park and drop off bags, but that is all. I would suggest that the hotel checks out the menu at the Scottish Whiskey Experience on Castle Hill, which offer vegetarian and vegan alternatives to traditional Scottish dining out.…
My husband and I had our wedding reception here on 16th April 2022 following a short ceremony at the Edinburgh City Chambers. We stayed two nights, pre-wedding and the wedding night itself. I had called up the Radisson Blu events team 6 weeks prior to see on the off chance if they had availability for our event. Our original venue weren't being great with communicational and something felt 'off' but we thought we'd try our luck elsewhere - so glad we did because the Radisson Blu actually made our wedding. The prices were fabulous per person for meals and drinks, far cheaper than elsewhere. It fitted our small budget perfectly! We arrived in Edinburgh to discover our families accommodation (5 bed apartment elsewhere for 11 people) was absolutely vile. Dirty, uncared for and unsafe (the external doors didn't lock!). In a panic, we tried to rearrange accom but it being Easter weekend the pricing on the Internet for alternative accom was proposterous. I decided to call Joseph (Head of Operations) at the hotel to explain the situation, he said he'd speak to Head of Front Desk, Fabio. Within minutes I had a returned phone call me from Fabio assuring me that the family all had rooms reserved, I wasn't to panic and to enjoy what I was doing - their keys were waiting at reception for them. The room rate was AMAZING and included breakfast too! We all arrived and enjoyed some lovely drinks at the bar then headed to the Great Scot Room to finish setting up the tables for the next day. In the morning, we all had breakfast (BEST BUFFET EVER!) and we're looked after by Ericcson. He was the most attentive waiter ever and couldn't of been any nicer. Friendly, helpful and respectful! The breakfast is worth the hotel stay. We have children following a gluten free diet and the options were incredible. Following breakfast, the kids and family headed to the pool. Absolutely outstanding, stunning and clean! The normal wedding jazz then occurred. When we returned, our bags had been moved to the Royal suite (free upgrade!) and prosecco awaited us! The Royal suite is EVERYTHING you'd want from a suite and more. It's huge! All our guests had some lovely prosecco too before we moved into the Great Scot Room for our speeches, meal and more drinks. Well, what can I say here? The food was exceptional! The entire menu was gluten free, as was the vegan menu too. The food was beautiful and the presentation was just utterly perfect. The service was perfect too. Professional but warm, fast and flexible - we had to arrange an alternative meal for a guest but this was promptly dealt with without issue. The Great Scot Hall is just perfect. The events team had even arranged some toys to be out for our 4 young children to play with. It made everything so much easier. No children to entertain and the doors closed so we didn't have any escapees - we could relax entirely! Toilets were all immaculate roo and well serviced. The night continued but then luckily it was time to enjoy our suite! The room was so comfortable, quiet (despite being on the Royal Mile) and the air con worked perfectly. The next morning, we were met with Easter eggs for all the children af breakfast and a large table that had been put together to accommodate our large party (we didn't even request this but it was such a thoughtful thing to do!). Ericcson was fabulous as normal and helped see that all our needs were seen too. We were so sad to leave! Honestly, this hotel is the perfect event hotel. The attention to detail from Sarah on the events team, the swiftness and friendliness of Joseph and the absolute lifesaver, Fabio. Fabio really displayed customer service skills like nothing I've ever seen before. If I owned a hotel, I'd of poached him on the spot. They, and all the other friendly faces, made our wedding weekend the best weekend of our lives. We can never thank you enough!…
Stayed at many hotels on our trip. The location of this hotel in Edinburgh was perfect on the Royal Mile. The accommodation and the service was excellent. The concierge service was also excellent. Bought the royal ticket for sightseeing bus and Royal Yacht Britannia, Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle as a package ticket. Edinburgh Castle was closed due to high winds and rain the day we were to visit and we were leaving the next day. They refunded us a portion of the ticket without hesitation and said they would deal with the tour company. So nice not to have to have to deal with the tour company on our last day. Highly recommend this hotel.
Absolutely wonderful stay for my friend’s 50th birthday. We had booked two rooms and on arrival we asked about the Royal Suite and Rebecca who was at reception was so welcoming and super helpful and told us she would be able to accommodate our request. She really deserves praise as she went out of her way to make our celebration extra special. When we got to the room we were so impressed with the Royal Suite it has a beautiful lounge area. Soon after the card and Prosecco arrived from the hotel and Rebecca - we were absolutely delighted and surprised. I and the rest of my friends will recommend this hotel to everyone and we cannot wait to return.
Right in the middle of the Royal Mile, you don't really expect your hotel to be excellent, but our experience at the Radisson Blu was just that! Lovely room, comfortable bed, great breakfast, and extremely pleasant staff.
excellent facility. centrally located for everything. quiet rooms, clean, comfortable bed. I had a great view of Arthur's Seat. the complimentary breakfast buffet was very well done, and the hotel restaurant served excellent food, locally sourced. would highly recommend.
Great location, close to everything in the city centre. Rooms are very good bathroom was great lots of toiletries and a very comfortable stay. Staff are warm and welcoming and would have been a 5 star apart from a disappointing breakfast which could be fixed very easily with a little attention ! Would stay again
The rooms were fantastic with super comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly and professional, providing an excellent service. Breakfast was fantastic for choice and quality. Would definitely recommend this hotel. The location was perfect for a city break.
amazing hotel, location is perfect right on the royal mile and has its own multi - story parking!! very modern and sleek styling inside the staff were great and the breakfast is well worth the money .. This was February 2019, some reason it didn't upload
I am very reluctant to write bad TripAdvisor reviews but I feel badly let down by the Radisson Blu Hotel in Edinburgh. First, the positive : it is in a great central location. The problem: we booked online a Superior room, and paid extra for this. When we arrived at our room, it was ok but didn't seem to match a superior room. There were no extras - no slippers or dressing gowns; only 1 easy chair (the website showed two); a TV that didn't work, but even when fixed, only had 5 channels; not even a packet of biscuits on the tea tray. On checking on the website, we found a photo of a room identical to ours - but listed as a standard room, not a superior one. Thinking that the hotel had simply made a mistake, I queried this with Reception. They insisted we were in a superior room. When I explained about the photo on the website showing it as a standard room, they didn't offer any explanation. An hour later, I received a text from the hotel asking me if everything was ok. I replied to this text but never received a reply. When we returned home, I contacted the hotel 3 more times, putting the point that the photos on its website are misleading. Eventually, after 5 contacts with the hotel I received a reply. This stated that we had stayed in a superior room. Again, no explanation about the misleading photos on the website. So, if you are thinking of booking this hotel, my recommendation would be to avoid paying the extra cost of a superior room - the photos and details on the website are seriously misleading. And if, like me, you need to contact Customer Services, expect a very long wait before you get any response from them; the response, when it arrives, may well ignore all the points you are making, and you will end up feeling that the Customer Care Team at Radisson Blu need to go on an intensive training course!…
