Exemplary customer service and stunning surroundings!
My husband and I had our wedding reception here on 16th April 2022 following a short ceremony at the Edinburgh City Chambers. We stayed two nights, pre-wedding and the wedding night itself. I had called up the Radisson Blu events team 6 weeks prior to see on the off chance if they had availability for our event. Our original venue weren't being great with communicational and something felt 'off' but we thought we'd try our luck elsewhere - so glad we did because the Radisson Blu actually made our wedding. The prices were fabulous per person for meals and drinks, far cheaper than elsewhere. It fitted our small budget perfectly! We arrived in Edinburgh to discover our families accommodation (5 bed apartment elsewhere for 11 people) was absolutely vile. Dirty, uncared for and unsafe (the external doors didn't lock!). In a panic, we tried to rearrange accom but it being Easter weekend the pricing on the Internet for alternative accom was proposterous. I decided to call Joseph (Head of Operations) at the hotel to explain the situation, he said he'd speak to Head of Front Desk, Fabio. Within minutes I had a returned phone call me from Fabio assuring me that the family all had rooms reserved, I wasn't to panic and to enjoy what I was doing - their keys were waiting at reception for them. The room rate was AMAZING and included breakfast too! We all arrived and enjoyed some lovely drinks at the bar then headed to the Great Scot Room to finish setting up the tables for the next day. In the morning, we all had breakfast (BEST BUFFET EVER!) and we're looked after by Ericcson. He was the most attentive waiter ever and couldn't of been any nicer. Friendly, helpful and respectful! The breakfast is worth the hotel stay. We have children following a gluten free diet and the options were incredible. Following breakfast, the kids and family headed to the pool. Absolutely outstanding, stunning and clean! The normal wedding jazz then occurred. When we returned, our bags had been moved to the Royal suite (free upgrade!) and prosecco awaited us! The Royal suite is EVERYTHING you'd want from a suite and more. It's huge! All our guests had some lovely prosecco too before we moved into the Great Scot Room for our speeches, meal and more drinks. Well, what can I say here? The food was exceptional! The entire menu was gluten free, as was the vegan menu too. The food was beautiful and the presentation was just utterly perfect. The service was perfect too. Professional but warm, fast and flexible - we had to arrange an alternative meal for a guest but this was promptly dealt with without issue. The Great Scot Hall is just perfect. The events team had even arranged some toys to be out for our 4 young children to play with. It made everything so much easier. No children to entertain and the doors closed so we didn't have any escapees - we could relax entirely! Toilets were all immaculate roo and well serviced. The night continued but then luckily it was time to enjoy our suite! The room was so comfortable, quiet (despite being on the Royal Mile) and the air con worked perfectly. The next morning, we were met with Easter eggs for all the children af breakfast and a large table that had been put together to accommodate our large party (we didn't even request this but it was such a thoughtful thing to do!). Ericcson was fabulous as normal and helped see that all our needs were seen too. We were so sad to leave! Honestly, this hotel is the perfect event hotel. The attention to detail from Sarah on the events team, the swiftness and friendliness of Joseph and the absolute lifesaver, Fabio. Fabio really displayed customer service skills like nothing I've ever seen before. If I owned a hotel, I'd of poached him on the spot. They, and all the other friendly faces, made our wedding weekend the best weekend of our lives. We can never thank you enough!

    Great Location, Softest Bed Ever
I stayed for two nights at this hotel and I can't say enough about the location. It is in the middle of the Old Town Edinburgh Royal Mile, just a short walk (up hill) to Edinburgh Castle. Pubs and shops are at your doorstep. I love a soft bed and I can't say enough about how comfortable that was for me. I am sure if you prefer a firmer mattress it may not be your appeal, but I like to feel like I am in a pillow. I had a corner sofa that was surprisingly comfortable as well and make working while watching TV feel just like I was at home. My room was overlooking High St which surprisingly was not loud but it is February and things quiet down just after dark. Parking is directly behind the hotel with direct access and extremely reasonably priced considering the location. Here are my things you should know. If you want something to eat in the area, there are pubs, American fast food (KFC and Pizza Hut) and some smaller restaurants. Finding a place to eat last minute during dinner rush will be a task. I ate in a pub directly across the street from the hotel doors and it was very good. I had the salmon in the hotel restaurant and it was delicious as well. Be sure to plan your meals in advance and make a reservation if they will let you, otherwise you will be scrambling and picking up a pizza. This is really a negative to the local and not the hotel but nonetheless. The one and only negative about the hotel that I have is that I stayed for two nights and my room was not cleaned after the first night. It was odd coming back to my room from being out all day, tired and wanting to change before heading out again and the bed was not made and the towels were still hanging on the ironing board (I didn't put it away because it was still hot when I left). It was a disappointing feeling to come into the room. Now I should say that the same thing happened at a very upscale hotel in Edinburgh two night prior but I had a very late checkout and assumed that they didn't clean the room until after I left so they would only have to do it once. Which I will say gave me the same feeling when I came back to the room. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Oh another plus, if you book the Hop-on-Hop off tour busses they stop right near Edinburgh Castle, so need for public transportation.
Dear Tarin, Thank you so much for your nuanced and honest review! |I am most delighted to see that you've enjoyed not only the stay with us but also our location so much and that you've made great use of it! I do understand that a made up room upon each arrival is one of the best perks of staying in a good hotel, so I do understand your disappointment and will make sure to forward this to our housekeeping team for review and improvement. My warmest regards, Désirée Mendonça Guest Relations desiree.mendonca@radissonblu.com

    Great position
We spent three nights here. The car parking and location were the main reason for choosing the hotel. We expected it to be like others I. The chain that we’ve stayed at. To some extent it was. The rooms were functional but comfortable with great showers and comfy beds. The public rooms were very much those of ‘conference hotels’. The staff however, in reception, bar and restaurant were charming, efficient and friendly. We were impressed by the matter of fact way they dealt with Covid regulations. We felt protected and safe. Prices were fair for a city centre hotel. The site of the hotel was so central that we returned during the day for coffee and drinks rather than risking a less clean environment elsewhere. We ate out apart from breakfast as there are lots of reasonably priced restaurants nearby. The breakfasts were huge and freshly cooked with plenty of individually wrapped buffet items if you needed more. This was a very good city hotel. My main warning regards the car park. It is difficult to find, especially when a one way street was closed. The multi storey entrance/exit is quite tight so take great care. At hotel rates it costs £12.50 a day. Pretty fair for a city centre, but the hotel doesn’t give warning of this.
Dear Lesley S, Thank you very much for your review. Your feedback is important to us. We are really glad that you had nice interactions with the staff members throughout the hotel and that you enjoyed your stay overall. We hope to welcome you again in the future! Kind Regards, Kevin Ventura Guest Relations

Decided to change our booking for Edinburgh and chose the Radisson over another well known chain. We are very happy with the decision. The Radisson Blu is ideally placed for the Royal Mile, Castle, Holyrood, the National Museum and only 15 minutes walk to the National Galleries. We chose a superior twin room. At reception they realised that twin request had not come through but the helpful team immediately arranged for housekeeping to split the bed. By the time we collected our luggage from the attached car park the beds were ready. Our room was at the back, 2nd floor. Very quiet, comfortable, with a large clear flat screen TV, minibar, tea/coffee facilities and bottled water. Effective shower over bath. Very clean, and felt modern. The car park is 15.00 per day for hotel guests, and we had no problem finding a space on the upper floors. the access is tight so go careful, but I felt our car was safe for the 2 days we left it. There is a lift direct from the car park to the guest room floors, so if parking there, suggest you check in first then collect your luggage from you car. We will definitely be using the Radisson Blu on our next stay in Edinburgh.

Excellent location if your'e looking for something right in the middle of the city, though if you're looking for something a little quieter you probably want to look off The Royal Mile. Excellent staff and service. Modernized rooms were very comfortable though the bathrooms showed a little wear and tear. Price is reflective of the hotel's location. Easy transfers from the train station and to/from the airport.

I didn't plan on staying at the Radisson Blu when I was in Edinburgh but its central location near the beginning of the Royal Mile, bathroom with shower and tub and the promise of choice of pillows made it my choice for a four-night stay while recovering from Covid. The hotel seems to have been recently refurbished and the rooms are spacious, with plenty of plugs for all one's electronics, nice toiletries, a magnifying mirror and the soft pillows I wanted. I opted not to have my room cleaned because of Covid but any request I had was promptly attended to: a topper was brought for the firm bed, extra toiletries, towels and water (they give you free bottled water that is replenished) were left by my door. Room service was limited and not the best but every request I had for plain, simple gluten-free food was cheerfully done. There are taxis right in front of the hotel making it easy to get a ride in a location that is challenging to find cabs. I really can't say enough about my experience at Radisson Blu. They made a challenging time for me restful and as pleasant as possible. Recommended!

A good experience. Nice room and very good restaurant. If you want afternoon tea make sure to make a reservation the day before. Our room faced the pubs but you don’t hear much noise. It didn’t bother us. I’ve stayed here before and had a room on the other side of the hotel which is a little quieter. Take advantage of concierge to get tickets. We could not get tickets online for the castle but the hotel could do it for us because they have slots set aside for their patrons.

Stranded in Edinburgh centre outside the hotel after leaving mobile phone with all travel docs on it in an Uber. Huge panic didn’t know what to do or where to go. ‘Lost’ so went into hotel. Person at reception really helpful, let me use their phone and put me in touch with Uber. Wasn’t staying there, they were just very helpful. Eventually got phone back. Big big thanks, things like this enhance the Blu brand massively. I’ll definitely use these hotels in the future. Sorry I didn’t get the name of the person who helped but thanks again whoever you are!

The hotel was within walking distance of everything that you would want to do in City Centre. We walked to the castle, to Balmoral for tea and all over the city. It was a fun place to stay to feel part of the activity but once you were inside the hotel you did not hear the noise and sounds of the street which was great. Hotel was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to stay to be part of the fun in Edinburgh.

Nice hotel, well located but two significant issues. Excrement on toilet seat on our arrival!! Fire alarm went off at 12.50am - no staff to guide to assembly point so we made our way to the front of the hotel via emergency exit. Nobody checked with us as to our room number; two members of staff seen but no contact made. On asking next morning the Manager was away, the Duty Manager was coming in later (post 10am) and some other management representative was unavailable to explain what happened. We checked out two days later and had not received a verbal or written explanation as to why the alarm went off which made us feel unsafe. Still waiting for an explanation!! Mis-management at its best!
