We are a young couple that were 3 nights in Edinburgh. The location of the hotel is very good, very close to Royal Mile and a walking distance both railway and bus stations. The staff are very friendly and they help you in everything that you could need. The rooms are quite big and warmly, although they have electrical heating....

Our room was on the fourth floor but my partner and I are quite healthy so didn't mind the hike. If we did mind we would have just taken the lift. The room we had was a double and was a typical Travelodge room. It was very clean and well maintained. The staff on the desk and bar were very...

We arrived later than usual and it was comforting to know that the hotel called to enquire about us as we had not checked in. Once booked into our clean and comfortable room we decided to have a meal. Myst admit the meal was not brilliant and not a lot of it although the staff could not do enough for...

Just what I needed after a long travel experience. Quiet floor that allowed me the needed rest. Great view out my window. Room temp great. Brilliant staff that helped out with all my inquiries. Breakfast was extra, but was a lovely hot breakfast. And so close to everything!

Unfortunately this hotel appears "tired" compared to other hotel chains A guest's child was sick and vomiting in reception when we checked in and apart from using air freshener, no urgent attempt was made to clean up the soiling on the floor or counter while we were checking in - accidents will happen - but-------- Bathroom WC Pedestal cracked and...

Stayed at loads of Travelodge's before and in terms of the rooms, cleanliness and facilities, it was all fine. Usual standard, no issues. Breakfast was fairly chaotic but they were busy so to be expected. No, the issue this time was over our room security. We were there for 2 nights and on our first day it became clear that...

Room was huge and clean. Bathroom also good size and clean. Plenty of storage shelves and a very long, handy table. Room was very modern. 30 min free WiFi per day was working well. Hotel is right in the centre. Reception staff was friendly.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
