Great central location, just near to Royal Mile and train station. Stayed here a few times and rooms are good and clean with everything you need. Good comfy beds and showers are good. Staff are helpful and on hand whenever needed. Only downside would be parking is expensive for a 2 night stay and you need to top up machine... More

Staff very friendly,[ as before bed was like a slab of concrete,] informed manageress, she changed the mattress no problem and said she would refund one night stay, still waiting on e-voucher! She did however give us free breakfast. 2nd night there was fire alarm, good job it was afalse alarm, fire tenders took about 15mins to arrive.

Was the quietest Travelodge room we have ever stayed in but we had a long wait to check in due to staff training and a difficult time ordering food due to member of staff not be very conversant in the special offers on the menu or a very good grasp of English. The hotel was clean and very convenient for... More

Great location, a minutes walk from the Royal Mile/High Street. The reception staff were friendly and helpful throughout our 4 night stay. The room was excellent. Even though we were at the front of the building, there was no problem with traffic noise, thanks to the double glazing and the secondary glazing. The en-suite was also excellent, with an effiecient... More

The hotel is good value for money, a good nights sleep and is in a good location, it does have some parking but that can cost over a week, the hotel is clean, today and had good staff. It has very effective sound proofing on the windows with the windows closed. I would stay again.

We're here for one night stay. The room although a but small is fine for our needs. The room is double glazed which really helps with street noise. We stayed here previously and it really makes a difference. We used the bar and was surprised that drinks were £3 cheaper a round than the nearest pubs. We chose here instead... More

During our first night our room was flooded due to a guest in the next room leaving the bathroom tap on. The staff were very helpful they offered us another room, complimentary breakfast for both mornings of our stay and a full refund for the first night. We had a double room, it was very spacious and clean. Our room... More

Excellent location for the Old Town. Rooms basic but comfortable enough. It was exceptionally warm when we were there (unusual, I know ) so we made good use of the fan supplied! Had breakfast both mornings we were there. It was a bit hectic but reasonable price as our boys both ate for free when we paid for the full... More

Having stayed in Travelodges all over the country I had a good idea what to expect; however this one is above average in a number of ways. I stayed here for one night in July to attend a work event in Edinburgh. The location was good, 5 minutes walk from the train station and 10 minutes from my event. I... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
