We stayed at Jurys Inn on Jeffrey Street Edinburgh for a weekend. The hotel was in a great location for Waverley Station and The Royal Mile. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the hotel rooms and decor are quite dated. We were on the 6th floor opposite the station. The bathroom was very poor with dirty grout and...

Loved the steps from the Hotel right onto the Royal Mile. Weather was fantastic so walked for miles. Went to Steak Edinburgh on the Friday night and it was amazing. Came by the train this time and thoroughly it. More relaxing than driving and it was on time both going and returning.

Very nice hotel for the price. Good location between the train station and Holyrood Palace. Got a goods night sleep. Breakfast was nice and staff were very helpful when needed. Only slight issue was the bathroom was dated and the bedroom door handle came away in my hand meaning I could not get out of my room! Otherwise minor issue...

Ideal location for Royal Mile, Princes Street, trams to airport, Waverley railway station and Arthur's seat hill walk. Didn't eat in, but bedroom and bathroom was excellent with view of Carlton Hill..

Ended up in a room with a window facing the bottom of a deep dark shaft with various air condition machines right outside the window – very noisy – starting and stopping all the time. Coming into a room a strange bug was on the bed, the lightbulb in the lamp was broken, and no heating whatsoever could come on....

Excellent location just 2 minute walk to station and virtually on the Royal Mile. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast and a very good evening meal.My only complaint was the dated bathroom which needed a new shower cubicle as the door was difficult to close and the tiles were grubby. Would definitely stay there again.

Hotel is a short walk to the train station and royal mile. The breakfast was very tasty and good value for money and although main public areas are nice the rooms were disappointing and need an update!

Just back after 3 days at jurys inn. Had a fantastic stay. Had a couple of minor problems which were rectified immediately once reported to reception. Best staff we've encountered on a hotel stay. Nothing was too much trouble especially Nori in bar/restaurant area. Hotel in the middle of everything you could need. Great base to stay in. Can't wait...

Worse stay and sleep in a hotel I have ever stayed at. Came home extremely sleep deprived which was meant to be a lovely break away to relax. However, the noise didn't allow me to sleep. Bed sheets were stained and I informed the cleaner and she didn't offer to change them for clean ones. Sink/bath mucky all around them....

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
