This hostel is very close about all things on the city and you don't need to get a transport to see many things in this city. The city is prety much, I lovely this city and all the magic that you can see there.

I only stayed one night at the hostel, so maybe I was unlucky. But I found someone of the staff very rude. When I asked for help because I had problems with opening a window, the man said that I am adult enough to fix my own problem... My bunk bed really squeaked when someone moved, what made a lot... Great location in the centre of Edinburgh. Rooms are simple but clean, and towels were included. Staying here gets you 15% off the restaurant next door, which does and excellent breakfast. Only downside is that the rooms can get stuffy so you have to keep the windows open, and being in a central location you then have to be able... More

The location was perfect, just off of the Royal Mile, short walk from the main train station and the airport bus drop-off! I stayed during the Fringe, so I expected it to be packed, but I also found that the rooms were really dark and damp - not so nice, especially when there are 16 bunks. The wifi didn't work... More

I don't know why some people found this place dirty because it's the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in... It's not the most friendly hostel but it is literally in the center of the town, next to the main place of interest during the Fringe (High Street). Showers and toilets very clean (I didn't get really hot shower though), kitchen... More

We stayed here on the 6th of August for the first weekend of the Fringe. Our room was away from the main building (about 200 yards to be precise). I usually try to be fair in my reviews but I simply cannot be here. It was four flights of stairs up, had a 10am checkout and just had an overall... More

I stayed here one night during the Fringe festival because most cheap rooms were already filled at other hostels. Beds were comfortable but the place was quite dirty and grimy. There was only one functioning toilet in the female bathroom which wasn't on the same floor as my room. So you had to climb two flights of stairs to use... More

Very cozy and helpful hostel, came with a discount at the cafe next door, booked a bus tour of the highlands for us (and gave us great advice on which to take) and set us with a fantastic free walking tour of the city. The private room turned out to only have one bed, but had a comfey couch to... More

My first thoughts of this hostel was that I hated it. I was in a building away from the main building, the room was dark, dirty, it smelled musty, the only window looked out onto an also dark, covered stairwell that reminded me of living in a Mary Kings Close scenario. The common room is small for the amount of... More

Pros: - great location - fully equipped kitchen, though it small and did not have enough fridge space - friendly staff in the reception - big lockers in the dorms, keys could be borrowed for a £5 deposit Cons: - beds were alright but the pillows were really thin and hard, to the point where it actually hurt my ears... Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
