Just had 3 nights in a petit room, extremely comfortable and excellent food, breakfast and dinner. Hotel was in an excellent position for getting into Edinburgh on foot. Room had very little draw space, just 1 small one. Very poor reception on TV unless you left wardrobe door/closet open to reflect signal at all times. Reception told after first day... More

There's no doubting The Bonham is a beautiful boutique hotel. The decor & Georgian architecture is elegant, tasteful & luxurious. Used an ITISON voucher for a 2 course lunch. Limited menu, but high quality food. Our starter of pumpkin & amaretto soup was absolutely divine. Silky smooth & full of flavour, scattered with pumpkin seeds. Fresh bread & butter sprinkled... Having read the food reviews on trip advisor I knew this place was going to be good. It way surpassed our expectations though, especially with the main course, which was the most incredible pork belly and black pudding we have ever had - and this is coming from two die-hard pork fans. Service was excellent - friendly and professional yet... More

My wife had done quite a lot of research before we booked this for our 40th Wedding Anniversary and as we're not really fans of corporate hotels The Bonham seemed to fit the bill. We travelled on the train from East Yorkshire and as it had stopped raining we walked to the hotel which was easy and a welcome bit... More

The hotel was recommended to us by our travel agent, and at the price we were offered compared favourably with other hotels....under £200 for 2 nights including full breakfast. I was assured there was free on site parking which is a bonus in Central Edinburgh. I knew where the hotel was situated....in an ideal position for the shopping and night... More

Stayed here for two nights. Upon arrival we were upgraded, and had a fabulous room. The staff were so helpful and really polite. We ate in the hotel restaurant and it was absolutely beautiful, again the staff there were wonderful, not "in your face" but close at hand when you needed them.

We had heard good things about the Bonham from others, and the reviews on here were fairly good so we decided to give it a try on a recent weekend away to Edinburgh. The location is good, and the building is beautiful both outside and inside. There is metered parking available at the hotel, but this is very expensive (free... More

My wife and I were planning our 48th wedding anniversary (with Poppy {our Yorkshire Terrier}) and we were looking for somewhere special. There was only one place for us and that was the Bonham Hotel. As "usual" the staff were superb - kindly, warm, welcoming and ever helpful; the accommodation was superb and the food - a delightful experience. Thank... More

Stayed 27-31Jan with their 'January deal'. Lovely room, wonderful food and great service from an attentive staff; so everything as 'normal'. Their January deal represents outstanding value for money - great hotel, close to the city centre in the West End (most 'attractions' are within walking distance), yet quiet. We will be back.

Me and my boyfriend visited the hotel last weekend. Our Standard room was clean and nice. You can see that it has not been renovated for a while but overall satisfactory. Reception staff lost a piece of our luggage, it was a plastic career bag full of rare magazines. We were asked to make a list of titles and told... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
