We spent almost three weeks at The Bonham. Had to check out twice for overnight tours of Scotland. So we experienced three rooms, all different, but all excellent. This is the perfect hotel for our tastes. Small, elegant, classic. The location is perfect. Just a hundred meters from the business of Edinburgh, but on a quiet residential street and facing... The Bonham was a great surprise for my wife and me. We discover it searching HotelTonight and we were absolutely fascinated with the location, the building, the rooms, the service and all the people working there. Our room was gorgeous. Breakfast, unforgettable. Just go!

We have just returned from a busy Fringe weekend - our first, and stayed at The Bonham as a result of a recommendation. A couple of days before our arrival we were contacted by Lee on the reception team with some good restaurant ideas and helpful local advice like such important matters as parking which is always a challenge in... We stayed for three nights and greatly enjoyed the visit. The hotel is classic building, clean and well maintained. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful from local restuarant suggestions to holding luggage, calling cabs, etc. Our room was downstairs, so did not have a lovely view, but the room was large and well appointed from bed, to linens,... Where to start? I booked a two night stay for our visit to Edinburgh. I had tickets to the Tattoo and booked a flight/hotel package via LastMinute.com. I was offered many options but chose The Bonham on the basis of reviews on TripAdvisor. The building is lovely, and the location overlooking a small park is perfect - just a five... More

This is a sister property of the George Hotel in Edinburgh and is bit further away from where the George but a decent hotel nonetheless. The building itself was converted to a hotel from its origin as a residential complex going back to the 30's-40's. The room we stayed was really big and nice. Here's my take... Pros: 1. Room... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bonham. Reception staff were amazing in assisting to help locate our missing suitcase, which did not arrive on our plane (arrived 40 hours later). Room was lovely and airy, with an amazing view of Dean Village and beyond. Quiet location, good restaurants nearby and also an easy walk to Princes Street.

We visited the Bonham for Afternoon Tea last week. The food was delicious and worth waiting for. That was the only slight problem. We had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, although when we were shown into the room only two tables were occupied. We were then given our Gin Fizz but had to wait a further 30... More

We stayed here for my birthday after looking at photos on the hotels website and because it states it's 4*. Our room was large and spacious but the decor and bathroom were tired. The fan in the bathroom didn't work and the bathroom door stuck at the top so could only be opened and closed with a good shove. The... More

We stayed here during the Fringe Festival for one night on our way home. It was a great location, parking for 24 hours was really good, only £15.00 which for city center location is really good. We didn't have breakfast there or eat as it was more expensive, but there was a lovely little cafe round the corner where we... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
