First of all if you see how many reviews I post,I am fairly critical of properties that meet most standards. When I saw a negative review of the breakfast, that surprised me, fresh made eggs, a complete assortment of cold meats and fish, wonderful baked goods, every cereal and juice you can imagine , real Belgian waffles , ham, sausage,... After experiencing ( unfortunately) the first real fire alarm alert after staying all these years at hotels all over the world I want to command you and your entire team for a flawless and well organized evacuation. Keeping us safe is very much appreciated. Unfortunately they had not enough blankets and it was a very cold and wet morning. After... More

We stayed here for the Scottish Hotel Awards. We splurged and upgraded to a castle view suite. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and the room has nice lighting effects to relax in the night. We did enjoy the excellent spa, however do be aware this hotel comes with a lot of... More

After much deliberation and consideration I decided to book the Sheraton for my boyfriends 30th. I've known the Sheraton to always be superior in service and generally highbrow, the "go-to" for special occasions but I was left regrettably disheartened. Context, I'm a returning student who after 10+ years apart newly rekindled my relationship with my boyfriend again. So naturally, celebrating... More

This is a very nice hotel with the usual amenities and a friendly staff, but there was for me, one big downside. The bathroom walls and doors are all frosted glass with no seals around the doors. The combination of all glass doors and walls plus tile floors and walls combine to turn this room into an echo chamber. If... More

We decided to spend a weeks holiday in Edinburgh after another trip was cancelled with late notice, we decided to treat ourselves to stay in a slightly posher hotel than we normally would. The hotel was very well presented, lovely location nice and easy to walk to anywhere we wanted to get to and plenty of restaurants just outside but... More

Fantastic staff. Everyone went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Great location, near restaurants and shopping. Short walk to many of the sights in Edinburgh including the castle. Outstanding spa experience. Definitely a great place to stay in Edinburgh.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was well placed close to Edinburgh Castle and the shops. The bar gave ago of selection of drinks in the evening - I didn't have any food from the bar. The breakfast was good, there was a good selection of hot and cold food (although I was disappointed there were no... More

Stayed there for one night only after a couple of busy weeks to relax. We got a fee upgrades and access to the lounge. The room was absolutely clean and tidy. Nothing to complain. The bathroom is great and the bed was just massive. Quick internet as well. In the lounge different types of canapés were served and we stayed... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
