As a first time visitor to Edinburgh I was really unsure about the location of the hotel, but the Sheraton was perfect. We walked every where, no need for cabs or public transportation. Close to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, New Town, and plenty of shops and restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. The breakfasts were perfect and... More

I have always found Scottish hospitality to be above average but Edinburgh's Sheraton Grand is truly exceptional, one of the best hotels I have encountered anywhere in the world. The staff and service were polite, cheerful, efficient, and engaged without being too much. My room was quiet, comfortable, and peaceful - the top three qualities for me, particularly when traveling... More

I won't give a laundry list of all the amenities but they are quite complete. The bathroom with two doors AND a separate shower and separate bathtub is something I had never imagined. However, the walls are paper thin and even "average" talking voices we could hear quite clearly from the adjacent room. Footsteps in the hallway reverberated inside our... More

This hotel exceeded our expectations from the time of arrival until our departure 4 days later. The front desk staff went out of their way to welcome us and to give us directions to the interesting sights in the city, they even provided an umbrella for the forecast rain . We stayed in a club room on the 7th floor and... More

Hotel is spotless & the rooms are beautiful. Can't comment on the spa facilities as we didn't get a chance to use them! The bar is lovely for a couple of drinks. The location of the hotel is brilliant also, close to restaurants/bars

Changed to stay here from somewhere else we did not like. Room on 6th floor was spotless and very comfortable - bed exceptionally so. Did not dine here but did use the bar on a few occasions - staff really good and attentive, and it is a very pleasant place to sit and great for people watching! We would certainly... More

We stayed here for one night to take advance of the Spa. The stay was absolutely perfect. We had one of the club rooms which gave us complimentary access to the Spa, for that alone the room was worth it. We also had access to the club lounge which is a lovely escape from the hectic city centre. All the... More

First of all if you see how many reviews I post,I am fairly critical of properties that meet most standards. When I saw a negative review of the breakfast, that surprised me, fresh made eggs, a complete assortment of cold meats and fish, wonderful baked goods, every cereal and juice you can imagine , real Belgian waffles , ham, sausage,... After experiencing ( unfortunately) the first real fire alarm alert after staying all these years at hotels all over the world I want to command you and your entire team for a flawless and well organized evacuation. Keeping us safe is very much appreciated. Unfortunately they had not enough blankets and it was a very cold and wet morning. After... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

The Sheraton Grand has been Edinburgh's gathering place for many years and it is the perfect place to discover this unique destination. From the moment you set foot inside the granite-floored lobby, you'll feel welcome. One Square, our restaurant and bar, serves a delicious range of classic British dishes all day long, while our beautiful bedrooms blend contemporary comfort and Scottish materials with cutting-edge technology. Of course, some things at the Sheraton have always been unbeatable, from One Spa's iconic rooftop Hydropool, to the breath-taking views of Edinburgh Castle.
