Upon arrival I was informed that car parking would be free and I needed to have my ticket validated when checking out. However on checking out they attempted to add £19.50 to my bill. Policies like this ALIENATE CUSTOMERS.

Dear nanaUK, Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you were surprised by the overnight car park charge when using our on-site secure car park. If you had used valet parking, this charge is clearly communicated by our doormen and Concierge. If you used the self-parking option, charges are clearly displayed on a plaque at the... More

My first stay here and FairPlay what a lovely hotel. A hotel with buckets of history, great styling and great service. Our room was well designed and had a lovely bathroom. Only two small gripes would be the bed wasn't the most comfortable I've ever slept in, which surprised me. And Whilst the room was extremely quiet during the afternoon... More

My sisters and I have never experienced customer service like this. To say that the staff went out of their way to make our spa day memorable would be an understatement. A special mention needs to go to Niamh and Jennifer, who delivered outstanding service throughout the day. The spa treatments are incredible. We will definitely be back.

When you think about a Waldorf Astoria hotel, you imagine a posh, exclusive, even a bit of snobbishness. Well almost. It was timeless, beautiful, classic, yet the staff was easily approachable and helpful. Our room was very large, enormous by European standards. Well laid out and very functional. The bathroom was stunning. We stayed for several days, so that staff... More

We have just spent a night in this hotel. We paid £325.00 for a premium king room and the bathroom was a health hazard the shower was full of mould and the glass shelf above the shower door was filthy, not to mention the tiles that where hanging off the wall in the shower cubical. We stayed during a friend's wedding weekend earlier this year and thought it lived up to the hype very well. A few areas are ready for a refurbishment but to be honest it's the quality of the service that makes the stay as much as the environment and this hotel is top notch. We will be back!

Lovely restaurant with the feel of being entertained in a private house rather than a big hotel. Dining room was cosy but spacious adding to the extra-special feeling. Staff friendly. Food amazing. Wine matches with the tasting menu were incredible. Not cheap but definitely worth it for a treat.

Just returned from an overnight at this city centre hotel. Foyer was plush and public areas were all very clean and luxurious. We were pleasantly surprised to be given an upgrade to a Castle View King Room. The room which was fairly spacious was located on the 4th floor with an excellent view of the castle. Housekeeping did not meet... More

I've stayed in this hotel before; before it was a Waldorf Astoria, and have to admit the location of the hotel is fantastic - pretty much on Princes Street and all Edinburgh has to offer, but I've stayed in better rooms in the area for less money and better returns. The room I was in was the oddest shaped room... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
