We had a great night in January on that boat. The owner was waiting for us, as was arranged . she is a lovely girl. The place was cozy and ready for us to use. Very close to tesco and restaurants, but you will find more then you think necessarily staff on the boat. Will come back there with my...

This was an ideal location in Central Edinburgh in a quiet area. The boat was equipped with everything you could need including a powerful shower and a well stocked kitchen. It wouldn't be for anyone with mobility issues due to the steep steps into the boat but beds were comfortable and central heating was very effective. It was a nice...

We just had a Sunday night stay at the Four Sisters Boatel and loved it. Even in December. There was even a christmas tree up for us and the lights on and it looked so warm and inviting when we arrived. Unusual choice of hotel accommodation but really fantastic! Friendly, helpful owner. Luxury place to stay in heart of Edinburgh. Had a great time with three friends. Will definitely book again. Everything you need was provided, even had a Christmas tree and a poinsettias plant, very festive.

This is a superb location in a quiet safe area within walking distance to Princes Street. Cafes and restaurants around the corner and supermarkets too. Your every need is catered for, clean, comfortable and cosy. We stayed 2 nights and would happily stay again. This experience is a must to try, very highly recommended.

We stayed as a group of four adults and two kids for rugby/shopping weekend. Excellent location within walking distance of the Old Town, Princes Street and Murrayfield. The boat is full of character plus it's equipped and serviced to a high standard. There is a Tesco Express round the corner and I can recommend Loudens Cafe for breakfast. Zizzis is...

My sister in law booked this boatel for 1 night for my niece's birthday. They stayed overnight whilst we attended for the evening. What a lovely boat. Everything was thought about and all the finishing touches were there - even a hairdryer and straightners. All areas were lovely and spotlessly clean. Have stayed on a boat like this before and...

Walkable distance to all you need to see in the city centre, nice canal boat with all you need. Wifi was a little poor and it was cold during the night but it was Nov and there was ice on the water. You have shops etc very close by all in all we had a great time.

The boat is advertised as 4 star luxury self catering accommodation so we were expecting a very high standard of cleanliness bedding towels etc. however on arrival the first thing we noticed was a horrible smell at the front of the boat, and very sticky dirty floors and surfaces. Not at all like the photos on the website. We contacted...

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
