Had a good night in Edinburgh at the weekend choosing the travel lodge on rose street as our overnight base. It was a good central location for most places and despite being on one of the busiest streets for night life and pubs we a had a good nights sleep.

The location was perfect and the staff were friendly. The room was HUGE and could have been more inviting with some additional furniture e.g. table and chairs or sofa. It looked as though something was missing.

There are a number of Travelodge locations around Edinburgh. This particular one is very centrally located, a short walk from the train station. It is on Rose Street, where there quite a few pubs/bars, so it is a busy, and a bit noisy urban area. Of particular note is a rather loud karaoke bar right next door, which can be... More

Firstly I was hesitant to book because of previous reviews, but I am so glad I did. We arrived 3 hours early and they had a room for us immediately. Top floor front corner 407 (great big room). It has everything you need for a short stay. Its right next to Hanover street and full of great restaurants. Try bar... More

We paid £180 for two nights at this hotel. When we checked in we commented on how tired and grotty the place was, but figured it was only somewhere to sleep. On the Friday night we returned to the hotel at around 10pm (as we'd had an early start) and a near by club had the music on the highest... More

This hotel is really close to all the sights and shops and restaurants. We had a really big room, but felt it lacked amenities such as there was only 1 chair with a very small desk and the wardrobe space was very limited with no drawer space, unlike other hotels in the chain. The bed was comfortable and the room... More

It's a travelodge - budget but did the job. Room feels a bit like an old student room but cleaner. It's basic. Good location for bars and food. The pub next door is rock karaoke tonight, hopefully won't be too noisy. Would recommend if on a budget and premier inn (or nicer) is full.

This Travelodge in Rose Street is in a very good location. There are cafes and restaurants round and about. The tram to the airport stops close by on Princes Street. The rooms were comfortable and clean with most things one needs - the exception being a hairdryer which you have to borrow from reception,

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
