We opted for one of the truly stunning suites. All mod cons. Plus a wonderful bouquet and cakes and very chilled Prosecco. After a lovely aperitif the hotel organised a limousine to our meal that night at Kitchin. As we left, the concierge called after my partner and said that she looked stunning. I hope you agree that she did.... More

I decided to splurge on this hotel after traveling in the Highlands at little B&B's for 2 weeks... and I am so glad that I did. Room was super comfortable, bathroom was really clean and a nice size. Ordered room service which was delicious. Location was really great for some last minute souvenir shopping. Breakfast was delicious as well. Staff... More

Went to the G & V with my friend a few weeks ago - really loved the little garden bar in the centre of the hotel. What a find ! Sheltered, warm, lovely little area with its own private bar and bar person in residence as long as you are ! Cocktails were lovely and reasonably priced. Couldn't fault it

Arrived for valet parking out front, for which there was no indication of being in the right place and in the time it took a valet to come out, my husband had an altercation with a coach driver who insisted we shouldn't be in the lay-by. The valet was very helpful and professional however and it wasn't his fault as... More

Stayed here on a recent business trip. Rooms are comfortable and have plenty of space. Mine also had a desk which was great. Nespresso machine was a welcome bonus. Just wish I had worked out how to use the window shutters.

This is not a 5 star hotel. The bell man outside were chatting to each other we had to carry our luggage up to the check in ourselves after 12 hours in the air. The room was not ready even though they knew when we would be there and were promised an early check in. Room is just small and... More

What a marvelous hotel. From the moment we got there the entire staff was helpful, polite and a great resource for information about touring Edinburgh. We ended up in a room with an amazing view of the city. I will recommend this hotel to all of my friends who travel to Edinburgh.

We loved this hotel. It is in a fantastic location. Right in the heart of the most beautiful part of Edinburgh. The room was very stylish and had lovely Arran Aromatic toiletries. All staff were very helpful. The secret garden is lovely. Fresh milk, tea, coffee and water are provided in the bedrooms which was great.

We had a superior room 514 on the 5th floor. The view was stunning as was the decor; mini bar well stocked and free refills. Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
