The breakfast room has such wonderful light even on a drizzly day. We came to Ramsay's after another B&B had us down for a date one month later. We took over the entire B&B and 3 of the 4 rooms had toilet and shower in the bedroom. The smallest room has a bathroom and shower down the hall. Everything was...

We spent two nights in the small double, perfect for a couple of nights. Ramsay's is stylish, super clean, and their breakfast is amazing. Walking distance to the Royal Mile. Ramsays is close to a number of great little bars and restaurants. And Sharon and Norrie, the hosts are so friendly, the sort of people you want as friends. Highly...

We recently spent 2 nights at Ramsay's B&B in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our room was roomy, spotless, and comfortable. Our hosts, Sharon and Norrie, could not have been nicer. We really enjoyed their hospitality. We had a rainy two days in Edinburgh, but staying at Ramsay's saved it for us. I really don't think you can go wrong here... Susan Schipani...

Great location, but even more importantly, good clean and comfortable rooms. A very warm welcome is shown to all who rest here, as well as the best breakfast in Scotland.

Yet another wonderful and enjoyable stay we've just had at this very family orientated and friendly B&B. This time we were joined by our friends from Sussex. Our hosts Sharon and Norrie were once again in superb form, right from the outset when our greeting was like meeting one of our own family. Our room was immaculate, bed very comfortable...

From a warm welcome until our last morning it was always a joy to be with our hosts, and as other reviews...

A friend booked us into this B&B for the weekend and we couldn't have stayed in a nicer place. Nicer than some 4/5 star hotels with thoughtful touches in our room such as an iPod docking station. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit salad cereals and full scotish. Sharon and Norrie were fantastic hosts and I would definitely stay again...

All the reviews are correct, this is a superb B&B. Sharon went the 'extra mile' for us by booking on-line our reservations to see the pandas at Edinburgh zoo when we had not taken our own laptop with us. This B&B has the homely touch with superb breakfasts and comfortable bedrooms. There is a bus stop conveniently just around the...

Delighted to find this fantastic B&B through Tripadvisor. Spotless room with great attention to detail. Sharon and Norrie were warm and welcoming and full of lots of helpful tips about where to go and what to do. Breakfast was absolutely superb - plentiful, fresh and cooked to perfection. We had been slightly concerned we might be a little off the...

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
