We arrived in Edinburgh in the late evening and Sharon met us at Ramsay's to welcome us to the B&B and give us all the details. We felt instantly at home! This adorable little place is incredibly well-appointed, beautifully decorated, and very clean. Plus, any B&B that offers you a wee dram of whisky upon arrival gets high marks in... More

Spent 2 days @ this delightful B&B. From the moment we knocked the door Norrie and Sharon could not have done more for us, what a lovely couple. Premises are spotless and breakfast was a treat. Parking was easy just a short walk away. Plenty to do within a 2 min walk if you don't want to go into the... More

Sharon and Nouri were excellent hosts! Since we arrived from the US at 7:00 a.m. in Edinburgh, they allowed us to drop our bags at the B&B for check in later. Ramsay's is located in a great location - quiet, but near to all the interesting things to see and do. The rooms are lovely, clean, and spacious. The decor... More

Ramsay's B&B hosts were extremely hospitable and warm. The host waited for our arrival at 10.30pm and he welcomed us with whisky. He did an excellent job orientating us around. The room was very well equipped with amenities, it was cosy, very clean and looked newly renovated. Small details in the interior design were paid attention to. Scottish breakfast was... More

We spent one night in this B&B and we enjoyed it. The owner welcomed us very friendly and was helpful. The room was clean and well-designed. The breakfast was excellent, you absolutely have to taste the haggis. We recommend you this place.

We stayed here whilst visiting our boys who live in Edinburgh and were made very welcome by the owners, from the whisky on arrival to the breakfasts (lovely) and greetings whenever we were going out or coming in and they were around. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely return here on one of our many trips... More

I researched the top Edinburgh B&Bs, and based on our stay I believe that Ramsay’s should be ranked #1 considering the location, price and the fact that it perfectly met our key needs (comfortable beds, lots of hot water for the shower, good food, spotlessly clean and reliable free wi-fi). This B&B is run by very professional hosts and is... More

An amazing little gem in Edinburgh. Beautiful room, wonderful hosts, perfect location and an all round great spot. The breakfasts were excellent, good variety, always served with a smile by Norrie and very substantial. Norrie and Sharon are so friendly that you feel like you're at home.

Great location, newly renovated room and great hosts. Norri & Sharon were great hosts. Very friendly, fun to talk with and provided excellent suggestions for getting around and enjoying Edinburgh. Enjoyed all aspects of our visit, including a wee dram, and would stay there again. And my son Colin would say the same.

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
