Stayed at this hotel 4-10 August. Many of the negative reviews here also apply in our case. We had booked a room with twin beds but got one with a double bed. The next day we did however get a room with twin beds. In the first room the shower did not work, lights in the corridor did not work.... More

Hotel needs updated, torn duvet cover, badly stained shower cubicle. No lights at top of stairs, a bit scary for us. No hairdryer, or toiletries. Although it is stated on web site, that these are provided. Very friendly and helpful staff, so made up a little for the disappointment.

The plus points - it's cheap and its clean. The linen is very new and fresh. The minus points - shabby decor and very dated. Very noisy at all times even through the night there was a lot of banging noises. The mattress was like a sack of potatoes. It was ok for one night, but it is unlikely that... More

The room wasn't clean, we found bottles and other stuff under the bed. No internet connection on 2ND floor.it's a old hotel who need a big makeover. We are not booming back. The breakfast was OK, so some good was there

the one is to prove this place really exists. It is very dated with decor and furniture taking you back to the late 70s but not retro it's just not been touched since then in any way. Definitely wouldn't stay here again , was a spur of the moment. Doesn't look too bad from outside until you step inside. we... More

This is really quite an old-fashioned hotel of the sort that can still be found in quieter parts of Scotland. Everything is a bit clunky and a bit shabby and not very clued-up on how the hotel experience has changed over the decades. That being said, it is doing most things right. There is free wifi (that sometimes works); surprisingly... More

We found this hotel when we were looking for someplace to stop and have a meal. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and the meal was well prepared, beautifully presented and delicious. We had sirloin steak and chips with mushrooms, onion rings and tomatoes. The plate was big and it was full. We will certainly go back next time we... More

I booked this room before I read the reviews and was a bit worried about what it would be like. I was pleasantly surprised when I got there. My room was lovely - clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the two meals I had whilst there were delicious. Breakfast in the morning was well worth... More

I stayed at the Craigtay on a work trip during May 2016 , My first impression were quite good the common areas were clean and tidy and the staff were polite and helpful. When I got to my room again it seemed clean and tidy but the longer I stayed in the room the more dirt I was finding. The... More
