The room is spacious, very clean. You wouldn't guess there's a bar below you. We didn't hear music or patrons. Susan is very welcoming host, and we felt secure up the locked staircase. Breakfast is the classIc egg, tomato, tattie scone, beans, sausages, rashers and mushrooms, with a variety of cereals and fresh fruit. You eat in the bar, but... More

Accommodation above a popular pub. First impressions were surprise at the lack of a reception desk, then I realised that it was basically a pub with rooms. The room was clean and had en-suite shower etc, tea and coffee provided, the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was made to order which I enjoyed. The pub locals were generally younger with a... More

I was welcomed to the hotel promptly and made to feel welcome. The room was large and spacious. The seat was comfortable and the beds firm and also very comfortable. A couple of minor asthetic issues... There was still urine in the toilet, I solved that quickly myself. The remote for the tv and digibox belonged to another room and... More

I entered this hotel fearing the worst, as it sits above a rather dingy bar that played loud metal music and featured a peculiar-looking clientele. However, the receptionist/barman greeted me nicely and showed me to the room. The room was simple, functional and clean. Despite being above the bar, I was not disturbed by the noise. The bed was comfortable... More

It will not suit everyone but we had a good stay. The staff were friendly, there is secure bike storage and the rooms were nicely fitted out and clean. The pub is not one you would take your granny to but the accommodation was fine. We stayed on a Monday and it was very quiet in our room. Overall good... More

As a pub the white hart is one of the worst in Dumfries due to the sky high prices of drinks and the fact it is usually too quiet. At night the places generally attracts a particular demographic of rockers, moshers and those sorts of tattoo'd, long haired people. On a busy weekend the atmosphere of the place can be... More

I am delighted to have found this hidden gem in Dumfries - and inn with rooms, and what rooms on the newly refurbished first floor - spacious, clean, simply and tastefully furnished, comfortable; also reasonably priced for either room only or B&B. I had an excellent sleep, there was no 'street noise' to disturb me! The White Hart is very... More

The White Hart in Dumfries was chosen as our base camp for the `we should be fitter than this to go cycling` tour 2007. What a great find the White Hart turned out to be, recently refurbished it had the essentials for cyclists, bike storage, good size clean rooms and large en suite with a proper power shower. Breakfast is... More
