A brilliant find! An exceptional welcome and hospitality. George booked us in for a Saturday evening meal at the Steamboat Inn, cooked fabulous breakfasts and treated us as if we were visiting family. The garden room on the ground floor was furnished to a high standard and very comfortable. The newly-built summer house, next to the sea defences, allowed us... More

We stayed here for the second time on 16th April 2016. Brilliant once again. Lovely rooms and great service. The view from our room was beautiful. Breakfast was delicious. Very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely be back :-)

I visited on 5th April for one night, and was amazed at the location; you couldn't be closer to the coast. On entering the property we were met with a warm welcome from the owner, and shown to the rooms. The owners of "The Old Shop" have an amazing attention to detail and everything is of the highest quality. The... More

Fantastic B&B with great hospitality comfy bed, spotlessly clean, breakfast excellently cooked and plenty of it .... we have already told Susan to expect our phone call to re-book a longer stay .... we might have picked the wrong weekend of weather but not the B&B to go too even our two Border Terriers gave The Old Shop a "Woof" of... So many things to say about this place. First of all it's a home and you feel like you are in someones home, it's warm and welcoming. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom which is pretty, comfortable and had everything we needed (including a little fridge). The breakfast is great with good fresh and locally sourced food. Susan and George... More

Stayed in this lovely B&B with my partner last weekend for one night. The shop was built in 1842 and has been a drinking house in the past. Our room was wonderfully furnished with quality bedding and lovely thick towels in the bathroom ( i said i'd mention them Susan!) We were lucky to have the room with the sea... More

We felt so fortunate to be helped by the people at the Steamboat Inn who assisted us when they were all booked up, and into such a nice B&B. The proprietress could not have been more friendly or real. We had such a spirited, intelligent, enjoyable conversation around the breakfast table; it seemed as though Susan and George were old... Have read a few of the reviews and first must say that we didn't find the locals 'cliquey' at all-in fact we found the opposite! Rooms were spotless, quiet, and warm. George booked us into the local pub for food and we had a great night with him and his partner. Excellent breakfast the following morning. Really super stay, would... More

We chose this cottage to be close to the many bitdwatching sites nearby...Rspb Mersehead with the wintering Barnacle Geese is five minutes away and WWT Cavalaverock is only 20 minutes away so location was perfect. However what we didn't realise was the wealth of sights right from the bedroom window....Porpoises jumping within feet of the shore and shelduck, turnstone and... More
