This is a delightful comfortable hotel in the centre of Melrose town. There is a train service to Waverley Station in the centre of Edinburgh which takes about half an hour. The traveller is now in able to walk around Edinburgh enjoying ALL that Is going at this fascinating time during the festival. This of course involves the Tattoo, the Fringe...

I stayed here for one night in a single room and found the hotel to be clean and comfortable with nice little guests' lounges where you can sit in peace and comfort. The decor was a little tired, but still clean, however the outstanding memory of my stay was the food which was superb, culminating in breakfast the following morning...

I have stayed here a few times with work & eaten here on numerous occasions. The staff are always great. Rooms are lovely - nicely decorated with comfy beds & lovely warm showers. Great selection for breakfast. Restaurant for dinner is very homely with good selection & the homemade fudge is out of this world. Would definitely recommend.

A group of seven family and friends recently enjoyed an exceptional evening meal at Burt's Hotel. The hotel offers a choice of dining rooms and as we meet up only rarely and wanted to be able to talk together we selected the beautiful dining room overlooking the garden. The hotel is in the traditional style of the Borders having offered...

Having stayed in the very historical town of Melrose. We didn't stay here. We actually stayed at a very grotty hotel not far from here. When we arrived we went for a wander and found this establishment. We looked at the menu and thought yes. Excellent. Let's try it. We arrived early but this wasn't a problem. The waitress kindly...

We called in for food as we were staying out at a nearby farm and we had had experienced Burt's breakfast a few years ago. We weren't disappointed the food was sublime, beautiful flavours wonderful textures all well presented in a very comfortable bar area. On arriving the waitress announced that it was her 1st night there, she had obviously...

Melrose can best be described as gentile - pretty, quiet (except when the Seven's Rugby takes over every year - well they did invent that particular type of rugby !) and blessed with quite a few parking options meaning the towns shops and eateries seem to work. People seem to amble around and everyone seems friendly and polite.... But all...

From a delicately presented and deliciously smoked venison starter right through to home made on the premises grape chutney with the cheese and home made delicious tablet with the coffee, everything was excellent. One tiny mark off for using frozen chips, but even these were perfectly cooked. I will be back. Clearly a popular destination with people who dine there...

Fabulous to return to Burts Hotel in Melrose. Though it didn't need it signs of a makeover but still leaving the fine traditions of warmth and comfort. Newly created rooms on the top floor offer very pleasant accomodation and the restaurant excelled in every respect as did the cosy cocktail bar. If you are looking for a break in the...
