Lovely spacious room. Restaurant quality food. Staff were very friendly. We did have a bit of a rubbish view from our hotel room but that didn't concern us much. Breakfast was lovely and service very efficient

Fantastic hotel. The room was spotless, the facilities were great. Our shower was incredible. After the first morning I certainly looked forward to the locally sourced breakfast which was cooked to perfection. My partner and I really could not fault it. Would certainly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Service very slow. An hour and a half from ordering to food arriving. Seemed like they wanted us to buy more wine whilst we were waiting. Food arrived and fish still raw. Nice place but seemed like over ambitious. Other people seemed to be served faster. Am sure they could do better. Very disappointed.

We met a couple of friends who were staying for a couple of nights and had a first class dinner in the lounge bar. Service and food were first class. Not cheap but good value the location in this small town is perfect.

From first impression to check out two days later all staff were pleasant, attentive & helpful. Room was extremely clean, as was the rest of the hotel with the only small drawback being the kitchen chimney close to the window. Food in the bar was excellent & the draught beer spot on. I would stay again.

We went for lunch in the bar to mark a birthday. Great location and wonderful window boxes give an excellent first impression. I must admit I was slightly disappointed in the choices on the main menu - no salmon and the only chicken dish was with lobster ravioli which did not appeal. However I could not fault the generous plate... More

This friendly hotel in the pretty main square of Melrose well deserves its accolades. We stopped for lunch on a visit to the Borders and enjoyed a roast beef and horseradish sandwich which was perfection: the beef rare and succulent and the home-made horseradish adding an ideal level of piquancy. Friendly staff and an accompanying pint of Timothy Taylors added... More

The location is great - right in the Middle of the town with its own private parking. The room was a little small but it was a last minute booking and we were grateful for a bed for the night on the way back from Scotland at it appeared to be very popular. The food was delicious especially the smoked... More

We have stayed at Burts Hotel before and never been disappointed! Our room was very comfortable and clean. We had supper both nights in the Bar area, there was a good atmosphere and the food was excellent. We also enjoyed our Full Scottish Breakfast and all the staff were friendly and efficient, we have promised ourselves another visit.

A lovely place with lovely people and very lovely food and lovely real ales too. Just avoid bedrooms over the kitchen. However this is a very fine, reasonably priced and happy place to stay. Wonderful way into Europe!
