Great location, easy to find with private parking. Well located for local restaurants / pubs. (2 mile drive)
Lovely room with separate lounge area, fresh flowers and welcoming host.
Wonderful breakfast would certainly look to stay here again when in the area.

Mrs. Catherine Murphy was a delightful hostess. Located on a country lane a mile south of Oban, this warm, well-appointed guest house offered a quiet oasis on our journey this summer. Of the 3 rooms available, we treated ourselves to the one with a sitting room for an extra 5-10 pounds. Payment was in cash, no credit cards were accepted at the time we were there. A trip to her backgarden provided a lovely view of flowers, the hills, and lots of sky! The greenhouse served as entry way from the parking area & it blossomed as well. Mrs. Murphy's breakfast and afternoon tea were excellent. A breakfast room for the other 2 guest rooms was an option for people who wanted more socializing. We greatly enjoyed our stay. Mrs. Murphy indicated that, at least in 2005, her American tourism was down -- although many Swedish and European visitors took advantage of her fine hospitality. So, if you are from America & heed our advice to stay with her, let her know the couple from Cincinnati say hello!

on 27/7 my husband and I drove from Loch Lomond to Oban and couldn't find a place to stay - we happened upon Ariogan just outside Oban and were delighted. Cath was an amazing hostess and our accommodation was generous - a three room suite with private dining! We have no hesitation in recommending this guest house and have indeed told all our friends. Breakfast was delicious. We were so excited by this find that we immediately paid for an additional night.

We stayed here for two nights last September on a return visit to Scotland from Australia.
Cath gave us a lovely reception.on our arrival, we had pre booked the garden room,
The only fault we had was the bed was a bit hard I kept rolling over on the iron sides of the bed.
I think once they purchase a new bed I would give them five stars, as everything else was brilliant.
Cath and her husband are lovely people the husband even gave us a lift down to catch the ferry
For a day trip to Mull. Which we were so grateful.
Cath is a lovely cook as the breakfast was to die for thank you so much, hope I don't upset them by mentioning the bed I am only being honest as once again there was no other fault to note.

Hi Sorry to hear about "Iron Sides" on a bed made totally from pine wood. Perhaps you mixed us up with another B&B you stayed with Kind Regards Ariogan Farmhouse

*** Our advice - BOOK EARLY! ***
To be honest, we had struggled a little to find midweek accomodation in Oban in July, despite looking 6 months in advance! Luckily, Cath had a family room and a double room still available so we grabbed it. We had a lovely stay at Ariogan and would definitely recommend. The rooms were very cosy, the beds very comfortable, everything spotlessly clean, lashings of tea and coffee in the room including shortbread and a jug of fresh milk, fresh flowers in the room and at breakfast, an excellent breakfast including a local smoked salmon and scrambled eggs option, and top quality fare for the traditional Scottish breakfast. Yum!
Although Ariogan is a couple of miles from town, a taxi in the evening was only about £6. We dined at the Waterfront, which was also fantastic.
Cath runs a great B&B and is a charming hostess. She was lovely to our son, 5, who thinks she is marvelous. Thank you for a very memorable trip!
The following day we headed 40mins up to Port Appin which is a beautiful spot and also highly recommended to all.

We really appreciated our stay at Ariogan. It was a surprise to meet Miss Catherine which took care of us for everything. The room is very comfortable and with a great privacy. Concerning breakfast we could choose from a menu different things with a large choice. I lost my shorts when we left the room and Catherine helped to find them and to send them back to me in Italy. Lovely! Hope to visit her again. Ciao!

Ariogan is a super B&B set in a lovely area. The owners are very friendly and helpful and provide a great Scottish breakfast. It is beautifully kept and spotlessly clean. It is very close to Oban making it convenient for restaurants etc.

My husband & I only stayed here one night but were very pleased with our accommodations. The rooms was very bright, cheery and comfortable. Once we were settled in Cathy brought us pot of tea while we decided where we might have dinner. She suggested a local place and also provided a map and directions. She was also very flexible on breakfast and willing to serve it in our sitting room or in the dinning room. The food was very good and there was a nice verity of choices. It was also nice that we were just far enough out of town for the peace and quiet but not to far of a drive if we wanted to do something there. We would definitely recommend this lovely B&B if you're going to be in Oban.

Lovely rooms, a personal welcome, a friendly and helpful hostess, who gave us tips on where to park and where to find a clothes store and on top of that an amazing breakfast with the best bacon we ever had! Now this is how we imagined a B&B should be.
