Have visited here many times before and usually lovely food but the chips felt and tasted like repeats and throughly put me off my meal shame as usually great service was good and I did complain at the time but nothing was said

Had lunch here today with my daughter 1 portion of frozen fish and chips and rubbery mash potatoes and steak pie with flat pastry. Have been before for meals and have always been delighted with the food.

Having been told elsewhere at 2pm that lunch was no longer being served, I returned to the George where I have had lunched several times before. It was very busy but was told that relax, have a refreshment and we will find you a table as it becomes free. After about 10-15 minutes we were shown to a table and... More

An absolute delight to eat here. Good service from particularly attentive and efficient staff, great welcome, fine selection of good beers, excellent menu from starters through to desserts and almost unlimited malt selection. This will not be my last visit and next time intend to stay there in order to sample the malts!! Keep up the good work, an exemplary... More

Stayed over en route to Islay having done the same two years ago. Had a very nice evening meal in the conservatory - scallops were cooked perfectly. Public bar superbly stocked choice wise - and the wine list was well laid out with a good range to choose from ... the superior house Malbec was a good accompaniment to the... More

Stopped off for a drink while in the area. Accepted dogs which was great and we sat in bar with football showing. Good atmosphere. Beer garden was good, under cover mostly. Food served looked nice although we didn't eat. Could have in restaurant bar or outside.

I loved this hotel. We stayed for one night as a last minute booking so we could only have a very small room in one of the anex's but we were made aware it was small when we booked and as a last minute find it was fine. Room was beautifully decorated, very elegant and relaxing, was kitted out with... More

Our second stay here and just as impressive as our first. Range of Ales is good and restaurant very good to stunning. Yes the decor is a tad tired but the quirky floors and mismatched furniture just add to the ambiance. Breakfast hard to fault with a good range of fare - kippers and smoked haddock worth a mention. Plenty... More

The rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff could not be nicer. It is the perfect place to stay as we came from the Isle of Mull and on our way to Glasgow. It is a small town and parking during the day can be a challenge but they have parking behind the hotel.
