Warm welcome and room was ready early as requested. It just got better....beautiful room, large comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with all areas of the hotel spotless. We ate in both the Black Sheep and main restaurant where we had excellent service and great choice and quality of food. This is a great base to explore all the surrounding areas... More

One night stop-over and wished it was longer. A really lovely, big, bright and airy room over-looking the square and the harbour means there's lots to look at. Large, comfortable beds, tea/coffee making facilities, lots of soft, fluffy towels and bathrobes. Immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. Okay, it's not TL or PI prices but if you can, treat yourself, you'll... More

I popped in for a quick bite of lunch and have to say I was very impressed. The waiting staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble...a pleasant surprise these days. I ordered Cullen Skink - for the record it's an old traditional Scottish dish with Smoked Haddock, Potatoes, Onions & Cream. It really was excellent, full of flavour... More

Lovely restaurant, polite and friendly staff, and the food was quick to arrive. Quite pricey but worth it for the quality and portion sizes of the food. Well presented inside and out, and great views of the harbour from some tables. Would reccommend

The hotel has been beautifully decorated and our room (superior dbl) and ensuite were fab . The veiw from our window was fantastic and we had two armchairs in our bay window from which to enjoy it . There is no car park but there is easy parking outside the hotel

Had lunch here 29/7/16. Would highly recommend the hotel for lunch. Service and meal were excellent. Did not stay here but the hotel looked really nice and clean. If you are in the area I could recommend eating here and by the look of the interior I would think it would be a lovely place to stay.

I stayed at the Royal three years ago and loved it. This time I found it had lost a lot of its charm. Not sure if there are new owners, but something has changed. I got the impression that no one seemed to care about the hotel and its guests. There were a lot of little things that added up... More

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for your comments. We apologize for the shortcomings you noted during your return stay with us. The Royal has not changed ownership, but was experiencing several staff shortages due to illness at the time of your visit. Many of the things you have noted related specifically to that and are not at all what we look... More

We had a great third floor room overlooking the harbour. Furnishings were very good quality, bed was comfortable, room was very clean. Even though the hotel is historic, it has been completely outfitted to modern standards. The restaurant and pub on the first floor are among the best places to eat in Campbeltown

Booked in for a 5 day stay and were not disappointed, staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The food was excellent and plenty of it, breakfast set you up for the day. Its right on the Harbour but very peaceful.
