We have enjoyed a number of delicious meals here in the past and were really looking forward to a treat yet again. Unfortunately we were all very disappointed. The service was excellent as before and the staff very friendly but the food quality was not what we expected at all. Initially I was reluctant to say anything to my friends... More

Went for evening meal in the dining room, the food was great arrived fresh hot and delicious. The staff whew friendly and we weren't rushed through our courses. Price very reasonable for portion and quality. If you're a seafood fan or not I would highly recommend.

Hubby and I are staying in Johnshaven for a week and decided to try here for lunch. We were greeted by a lovely young girl who explained that there was a private function on but that we were welcome to take a seat in the bar area. We were served quickly and drinks arrived promptly. The menu looked fab but... More

Excellent food and the service was quick and attentive but they didn't bother you too much either!!! Food was piping hot and delicious. Yesterday was my first time there but I will definitely be back. Have already recommended the place to several people.

Driving from Aberdeen along costal path to Johnshaven Village. Perfect hotel for lunch. Fishing town very quiet out of season with free parking. Not sure what it's like in summer. Stopped for lunch the best crab sandwich and local Scottish fish soup . The village is charming and the bar maid so efficient. Accomodation available but I think would be... More

Arrived on a lovely sunny day and were grateful for a seat in the small beer garden as we had out dogs with us. We were delighted to be offered not only a table inside but water and biscuits for our girls. There was an extensive menu and a good number of vegetarian options - the Thai curry was lovely.

We stayed at The Anchor Hotel in the Auld Fishermans cottage this weekend and had a lovely weekend. Went with mum and Troy, mum's 12 year old Labrador. The cottage was great and just what we needed, with a double and a twin room but with extra beds as well. The dog was happy and he was made most welcome... More

A group of friends took a walk along the beautiful coastline and stopped for lunch at the Anchor hotel. We were shown into the upstairs restaurant where we had fortunately reserved a table. We were served very quickly with drinks and then had time to study the menu and daily specials. Seafood is the speciality and of course is exceptionally... More

Having read the reviews we were looking forward to a delicious lunch. In fairness the beer battered haddock was very good, however the sea bass was small and overpowered by an oily dressing and the vegetables unseasoned and undercooked (not even al dente) The stairway carpet is very worn and very dirty, in fact most of the areas where we...
