The Youth hostel was good and organised. The entrance is organised with leaflets and spacious and neat and the reception was fine. We got our key cards for our rooms and got explanation how to get to our room. Shower rooms and toilets were clean and there is free soap to wash your hands. The people staying in the week...

The hostel has some good features: well-fitted, huge kitchen and eating area, small but comfy common room. However, the rooms are really narrow. You have to pay for the wi-fi. Actually, you have to pay for every extra, even though the price for a night is already expensive. But this isthe cheaper hostel around, so you don't really have any...

As many other people have noted this hostel's cost is extortionate but it appears that the entire Aberdeen hotel industry have reached a joint agreement to charge crazy prices and the result is that, while obviously terrible value for the quality, SYHA Aberdeen is indeed the least expensive bed in town. Location is in in the middle of an extensive...

Used more by Employed clientele, and some others seeking work coming from all over the World; the Hostel itself reminded me of the travellers Hostels I stayed in Amsterdam and London many years ago. The Hostel is set in a very upmarket street, the main entrance into the building reflects the rest of the interior, clean but drab and very...

This hostel is in a great location, it's very clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is lovely! There is a nice big kitchen, dining and lounge areas too! The only thing I can say against this place is that wifi was not free for guests, you do need to pay extra

the price is expensive and even with expensive price they don't give free wifi and computer access, 1 thing I am impress with this hotel only the massive kitchen, because the location is not that good.

I was there for one night with a friend, we had a private room, with an own bathroom. We are not a couple, so the double bed was kind of narrow, but we solved it. :) And for only one night it was fine. The room, and the bathromm were also clean and tidy. And yes, its a bit expensive,...

It is the only hostel in Aberdeen, even being the cheapest way to sleep in the city it is expensive (£25) You must pay for wi-fi(!!) (£1 for 20 minuts!), for breakfast (in other hostels other cities you get at least some continental breakfast), for towels, for ear-caps...No lockers in the rooms, very difficult to find plugs. Cleanliness in average....

While I was well aware of the reviews I'd read before booking, it still surprised me, in a bad way. I'll start with the good things: 1) it's close to the center. 20 min to center of town, 30 to train/bus stations and a bus stop almost immediately at the doorstep. 2) quiet at night, quiet area too -all offices...

This is the only hostel in Aberdeen, so it's also the cheapest way to sleep in this city. That is the only good point. Even if it's the cheapest of Aberdeen, it's an expensive hostel (25 £), you must pay for wi-fi (!!), there are no lockers in the rooms, it's really difficult to find an electric plug in the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our great value hostel is set in a historic building packed full of character, and has good facilities including family rooms. Aberdeen is a beautiful city, with easy access to the countryside, fishing, golf and pony trekking. City based attractions include cinema, concerts and the arts. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ... more   less
