We recently had our wedding here and it was perfect. Amanda made sure everything ran like clockwork. The food was amazing and all our guests had said how amazing the food was. The staff where so good even in the middle of the pandemic they showed nothing but professionalism at all times and entertained our younger guest throughout the night. We are so happy that we decided to have our wedding here. If anyone is thinking of this venue just book it you will not be disappointed!! Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts and wiĺ see you all soon for a dinner. The New Mr and Mrs Fyfe

As a family group, we went to lunch at the Chester Hotel restaurant. The restaurant itself is a delight, with private dining rooms for larger groups (6+) which provide an intimate and relaxed environment. The staff are attentive but not intrusive. If evironment and staff were the only criteria, then this would be a 5 star review. However, the food leaves a lot to be desired. I had the duck crown with confit duck leg. The confit was absolutely delicious, but there was very little of it. I eat a lot of duck, it being my favourite food, but in this case it was like no duck I have ever eaten before. The skin was moist and soft. Duck breast should have crisp skin. However. I have never eaten duck that one's teeth bounced off. After minutes of chewing I swollowed whole pieces of duck. Even if I tried, I could not replicate this disaster! Other members of my group had the turkey roulade, which was well cooked and would have been good if it had not been grossly oversalted. For desert I had the Chester Pavlova with spiced pears and cinnamon ice cream. The spiced pears and ice cream were delicious. However the merengue was crisp on the outside but so thickly sticky and claggy on the inside it was difficult to eat. Before eating at the Chester, I had heard good things. Having eaten there. I shall not be repeating the experience.

What a shame . The staff were lovely however the rooms are getting a bit tired and the service in the bar was very slow. Used to be top notch so I really hope that they can get neck to the first class experience that it used to be

I’m sorry, if you’re asking me to pay £12.50 for a single scallop I think I have a right to expect it to be served in convivial, vibrant, comfortable surroundings - having been told to expect a very busy restaurant/bar we sat in a coolish annex with only four other diners waiting 20 minutes to be offered a drink and a further 15 for their delivery. The lack of atmosphere was palpable and the service absent. Terrible shame because the food was excellent but paying £70 a head I expect more.

Repeat visit to supposedly luxury hotel. Sadly the room was looking very worn and tired. Window frame surrounds were rotting, wallpaper was curling up at edges, frayed and threadbare curtains and several stains on the bed covers, overall really disappointing. Still we thought breakfast would be something to look forward to. Arrived to chaotic dining room and were given a seat next to the busy buffet table. Placed breakfast order to find kitchen had run out of mushrooms and vegetarian sausages, poor show when there are so many vegetarians which are not catered for! Feels as though the Chester Hotel given up on their reputation and have just let the rooms run into disrepair. Won’t return any time soon.
