Very nice location in the center. The suite was more than comfortable with amazing decorations. The stuff was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant is maybe not the best one, but they were always open and had both local dishes and wines of a good quality, including a good selection of Champagnes. Place is odd and worth visiting!!!

Visited here at the weekend. We upgraded to a suite at the last minute and it was very nice, having previously stayed in a designer executive double in the past. Suite was very spacious, well decorated and had little things like boxes of sweeties and even a remote control helicopter to play about with. We stayed in the laundry suite,... More

Stayed overnight with my husband. We have stayed before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Edina checked us in and was so warm and friendly. We were an hour early so she took our bags and so that we could walk around Aberdeen. When we returned we were shown our room. It was lovely and there was a hand written note thanking... More

I have to say as a business traveller I put a previous review up that the service, food etc was barely adequate. Well done guys I've stayed here last week and back again today. Food massive improvement. Great service. It goes to show that hopefully hoteliers listen to the views of consumers and address shortcomings. Manager very polite, staff likewise

Wanted a last minute night away and found this hotel so got booked up and went. When we arrived we were allocated a standard double room but were shortly offered an upgrade to a suite so we did! We were shown all three available suites before deciding which one to stay in and chose the Cabernet Suite which was just... More

Thanks for the lovely evening we had at the Carmelite. Staff were just superb and the room too. We'll be back , quirky and fun. So different ! Can highly recommend and the first floor rooms especially. It's a city so there's always a bit of noise but if you want to stay somewhere with character this is a new... More

As a surprise for my 40th birthday we went here for afternoon tea. The setting afternoon tea on a four poster bed. Food was amazing and plenty of it from sliders to fries to sausages on sticks to sorbet and a chocolate fondue loaded with sweets for dipping. Great idea to have cocktail tea pots and mocktails if you aren't... More

My husband and I had our wedding at the Carmelite hotel on the 3rd of July and we couldn't be happier with what happened! The staff were always on hand to help out and as the night progressed so did the intake of alcohol and at one point me and my bridesmaids were locked out of the Best Suite two... More

Stayed here with my partner 1st July 2016 for 2 nights. I know a lot of family that have either stayed in this hotel and also had a few birthday dinners in the restaurant. I have always heard great reviews. We got a relatively good deal for a central hotel on booking.com. There was a bit 'faff' when we arrived... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Carmelite is neatly positioned in the centre of Aberdeen's Merchant Quarter, which is adjacent to the transport hub of rail, bus, coach stations and harbour. The Merchant Quarter is the "grown up" area of the city, full of independent bars and restaurants, and surrounded by the city's 5 under-cover retail shopping centres. An historical Grade B listed building dating back to mid 1800's, Carmelite has undergone major refurbishment program over recent years, introducing a boutique environment on the ground floor of Carmelite Bar & Grill, whilst the 50 bedrooms offer a mix of "Designer" Suites and rooms on the 1st floor, "Dapper" rooms refurbished end of 2012, on the 2nd floor and comfortable standard rooms on the 3rd floor. These enable attractive rates to suit all budgets. Aberdeen is a commercial city, with limited accommodation mid-week, however weekends offer some fantastic deals making an alternative visitor experience very affordable. The 6 Suites are all different, and very quirky - from round beds in turrets, and gigantic sleigh beds, all designer rooms have cast iron baths, monsoon showers. The "Dapper" rooms have un-cluttered designs with a mix of large monsoon shower rooms, double ended steel baths (some designed with 'no taps'), and black-out window blinds. All the bespoke furniture in these rooms were made by A social Enterprise Company in Dundee, called Dovetail. The 3rd floor standard rooms, although not yet refurbished, offer clean, comfortable accommodation, still with all the usual amenities. All rooms have luxury beds made locally by Social Enterprise Aberdeen Company called Glencraft. Designer "Anatomicals" or "Keiji" bath products, 32/40" LED Samsung Freeview TVs, as well as clocks, iPhone docking stations, tea/coffee making facilities, and most rooms with iron and ironing boards. A room service menu is available during restaurant times. The ground floor also is a boutique environment, quirky with a large open plan lounge and dining area, with informal comfy sofas, a Baby Grand Piano playing at weekends, and a dining 4 Poster Bed. The comprehensive bar menu offers superb cocktails, 12 champagnes, and extensive wine and drinks as well as a bar nibbles food options. Menus cover breakfast and brunch from a "Wake Up till Noon" menu, then an A'la Carte "All Day Menu" available from 12noon through till dinner. There is a Shoppers Menu available till 5pm each day with £8 main courses, and a Market Menu options each evening. There are two event rooms, Library and Balmoral for delegates up to 120, private dining to 50 diners, and Mad Hatter Tea Parties from 20 people. Intoxicating Afternoon Teas are a specialty, as well as Rock & Roll Parties in the 4 Poster Bed. Free wi-fi is available throughout the building, with a PC available for guests' use in the library. ... more   less
