My partner and I stayed at The Merchant Hotel to celebrate his 40th birthday. From the moment we arrived it was amazing - the attention to detail, the helpfulness and the sheer quality of service was the best I've ever experienced (and I've stayed in the likes of The Hampshire in London, so can compare 5*.) When we arrived, the... More

Just stayed at the lovely and well appointed Merchant Hotel in Belfast, en route to NI after a hectic week of work in London. From check in to check out, it was perfect - comfortable, just the right of amount of luxurious, and perfectly designed. A beautiful sleeping room with a glorious bath room. The extremly comfortable beds and beautiful... More

My husband and myself stayed in the Merchant in July 2013. As we live in Northern Ireland I know Belfast pretty well and wondered what I could do with myself for 2 days while my husband attended a conference without constant shopping! Well, really I didn't need to leave the hotel! I spent time in the spa - nails done... More

We were on a culinary tour of Northern Ireland (Peach and Shamrock Tour) and stayed here for two nights at the beginning of the week tour. It's a lovely hotel (formerly a bank) which has been remodeled. The dining room is absolutely magnificent with a beautiful domed roof, great breakfast, wonderful service. The bar had won many awards for it's... More

My partner wanted to try an afternoon tea for her birthday in Nov 2012. I took her to The Merchant where, in the dark, unclean and stuffy dining room we were presented with three tiers containing a sandwich on what tasted like run of the mill Mothers Pride bread, scones you could throw through bullet proof glass and a couple... I was taken here by my family yesterday for a surprise afternoon birthday tea for my 29th. Thankfully it had stopped raining & we parked a short distance away. I couldn't believe my eyes when they brought me here as I, and they, had never been. We dressed for the occasion and I wore my beautiful new 50's style polka... More

Overall, a high quality hotel and great staff. I would recommend it highly, but there are a couple of issues. 1) The doors to the bedrooms bang shut, (partially for security reasons) but should really be fixed to close quietly, you will be woken up as each guest leaves their room. 2) Breakfast is good, but for the price some...
