I had a spa treatment at the Merchant Spa and was left slightly underwhelmed – only becuase of the hydro expereince, which was less than spectacular. The message was excellent, and the staff member was fantastic too – the reason behind a generous three stars, otherwise it would have been lower. The hydro room was underwhelming as some sensors weren't... More

I stayed in the Merchant for one night, and dined there with colleagues. It is a really good hotel, and decorated well, albeit in a slightly quirky style. The room was comfortable, service was perfect and food really good. It is an expensive hotel but beats many such hotels I have used.

Booked this hotel for a evening meal, as a special treat whilst staying in Belfast. The food was amazing, we don't deny that but the experience was ruined by the attitudes of staff members towards one other staff member (obviously new). It felt to us like a bullying mentality to which managers were also involved and it happened in front... More

Went for dinner, service was amazing...attention to detail, table settings etc fantastic. Comfortable surroundings in the Great Hall, the toilets are also fantastic. Food was lovely, desserts were even better. Only thing I didn't like was the price of the bottled water, I think we paid £4.95-£5.95 for river rock....but overall good value for the food and service so we'll... More

This can be a superb experience for a very special Occasion. The wealthy surround and incredible service is sumptuous, but few can afford it, other than visiting dignitaries, lead musicians/performers - usually paid for by ratepayers!. My family booked my wife and I for a major anniversary dinner - meal paid and substantial sum advanced. The meal was delicious but... More

We visit the cocktail lounge quite regularly, it's really nice for something a bit nicer than the push and shove in a lot if the other bars in the town. It's sedate and classy. The drinks are more expensive than most of the other waterholes in the area, but, I feel it's worth it. The drinks are served with a... More

We loved our stay in the Merchant Hotel and had a lovely Victorian room with a beautiful bathroom and lots of lamps which gave it a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The beds were really comfortable as well. Breakfast in The Great Room was special and we loved the dining room, the service, and the ambience. The waiters are obviously very... More

We spent a lovely weekend at the Merchant to celebrate a 65th birthday! The staff were really helpful and arranged everything we needed including a hire car for one of the days! Lovely hotel well located in the centre with easy reach of all the bars restaurants and sites! Don't miss the open top bus and the Titanic exhibition! Breakfast... More

My friend & I stayed overnight as a little treat. The facilities on the roof were not cleaned or tended to. There was blood on the floor of the spa area & still there when we left. Dirty towels were draped around most surfaces & left on the floors of changing rooms & around the outdoor hot-tub. Nobody came to... More

We have just returned from a nights stay at the Merchant hotel for my wife's birthday. I honestly couldn't say a bad word about this place. Excellent staff, beautiful surroundings and a great location. Would definitely return. The rooftop hot tub is worth visiting for alone, fantastic views of Belfast.
