I stayed here in July with my mother in law. The hotel was easy to find with ample parking. The room was clean and tidy with very comfortable beds. The hotel is about 10mins drive to the city centre. It costs about £8-10. Would definitely stay here again.

I attended a post-funeral buffet service after a close friend's funeral and was shocked at the appalling standard of service in this hotel, The level of insensitive, incompetent, cost-cutting, shoddy service was a disgrace. The Beechlawn was hired for 11.30 a.m to provide tea/coffee and biscuits for guests who had attended the funeral service before they went to the cremation... More

Called in for dinner and the place was practically empty. That should have been the signal to get out fast. We sat in the conservatory area and eventually managed to attracted a waiter and asked for menus and some water. About fifteen minutes later a young waitress came to our table with two glasses of water (no ice added) and... More

Not impressed at all. Asked for menu for the lunch time "Specials" and the waitress looked at us in disdain! - not very pleasant at all. I don't know why they called them "Specials" as there was definitely no reduction in price! Selection not great, went for the lasagne which was nice enough but was served with one lettuce leaf... Based ourselves here for two nights and can't really complain about anything. Staff are friendly and the room is fine. Had a meal in the bar on the first night which was tasty and breakfast too. Large free parking which is a big plus. You get what you pay for and at the prices they charge you can hardly complain.... More

This was a funeral event. We had to pass a couple of hours between the mass and cremation. Booked for tea coffee and biscuits in the lag. Tea was brought in household size pots. Coffee arrived a long time later with no milk provided. One plate on biscuits charged at 30 pounds and no one to serve any of it.... More
