I have this 5 stars last year and was so impressed I decided to return. Unfortunately, this time it was a different story. Firstly I must say that the staff and the food are amazing. Now the bad bit. Room was not cleaned. We found a dirty, bloody plaster on the side! Photo attached. Said they would not be cleaning the room while we were there due to COVID. I feel this is just an excuse as the cleaning was hardly thorough the first time! Also no toiletries in the room. Again put this down to COVID but if that were true surely it would be better to give your guests individually wrapped items rather than all using the same soap dispenser! Said masks were compulsory but let a hen night with approx 10 ladies walk around with no masks - I doubt they were all exempt! Air con didn’t work and despite my husband downloading the Manuel still didn’t work. Window was locked shut so as well as being boiling there was also a big fire risk - I’m sure this would not be allowed by health and safety. Such a shame as first time around this was such a lovely hotel and was spotlessly clean. I think you would agree finding a used plaster in your room would be disgusting and unacceptable at any time but especially when cleanliness is meant to be of upmost importance. Really disappointed.

I couldn’t have asked for anything more, the staff were absolutely fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. I was at the hotel for a hen do and during our stay we had breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea and couldn’t fault any of it. I would personally like to thank Amy and Paddy for everything! I can’t wait to come back and visit next year!

My best friend and little sister organised my hen as a surprise, we stayed at the Clayton and it could not have been more perfect. With covid causing some last minute problems, the hotel went above and beyond to make sure all of us had the best time. The rooms were lovely and clean. We were served an amazing 2 course meal, with great bar service, a huge buffet breakfast in the morning and a Prosecco afternoon tea which was set out so beautifully. It was all so delicious, I just wish I wasn’t so hungover on the Sunday so I could’ve eaten more! We also had girls with different dietary requirements and the staff were so accommodating. Not only were the rooms fab, food amazing, location ideal but the staff were so so lovely. Amy and George you are amazing and made our stay so special. I wish I could’ve given you a big hug. Really looking forward to staying again. Thank you, love Hannah xxxx

We stayed at Clayton Cardiff. We stayed in their standard double room. The standard double bed was quite small but we managed. It was generally all good. I would to commend staff George Petrov his wonderful and always willing to help attitude. Keep it up!!!

Stayed two nights for a midweek birthday celebration break with family, the staff are just great! So friendly and helpful (big thanks to Ryan on Reception and Felicity!) we had no issues with our room and great to see cleaned and sealed stickers on the door for COVID - the AC stop working one night but Felicity fixed it straight away for us! We didn’t go in the restaurant so not sure about the food but I’m sure it would be delicious. We got the train to Cardiff Central and the hotel is based in prime location for shopping drinking and food so great for exploring the city. Considering we stayed a Friday night it was definitely worth the money and as usual we will definitely be coming back! Thanks Clayton Cardiff!
