Firstly we booked this trip a few hours before. We arrived at cardiff after a three hour drive to celebrate my birthday. The reception staff were more than friendly and more than helpful we got to the room it was stuffy. We proceeded to go out and celebrate for a few hours and got back to the room and it was like a sauna. The air conditioning wouldn’t go below 18 degrees Celsius. So the “air conditioning” provided it nothing but a bit of a warm breeze circulating the room. After hours sweating in bed thinking the room would cool with the air con, we called reception. The maintenance guy stepped in the room at 5am and was shocked by how warm and humid the room was. He provided us with a fan which cooled the room down slightly. We also paid for early checkout on check in. Me and my partner had briefly awoken at 11am (checkout was 2pm for us) to house keeping entering the room telling us we should’ve checked out while me and my partner were half naked trying to cover our modesty. I was humiliated. We’d paid extra to have a lay in not to be harassed and walked in on by hotel staff who then proceeded to wait outside our room for an hour while we got our things to leave. The presentation of the room was immaculate but the heat and housekeeping staff was unacceptable. I will not be returning.…
I just wanted to express my sincere thanks to Sian from customer relations who stepped in and helped me as a guest and went above and beyond to the point I was speechless to make my stay memorable. I would recommend this hotel in every way possible especially as it has Sian on the team. Thank you Sian. I had an executive suite which was spotless and comfortable. Mini bar, robes and toiletries provided along with tea and coffee facilities. Loved the hotel has ice machines on each floor. Location is simply perfect. So close to everything yet did not hear a thing. Breakfast 10/10 service 10/10 I consider myself hard to please and I would only stay here now if coming to Cardiff.
I had stayed at the Clayton as part of a stag do previously so couldn’t remember anything but the breakfast. I booked after seeing a concert at the Motorpoint Arena, which was a mere 4 minute walk away from the hotel. The hotel is fantastic value for money. I’ve stayed at more expensive city hotels and got far less value. The rooms look great, clean and well presented. The selection for Breakfast for £10 is by far the best I’ve ever had, with a large selection of Hot, Cold, Yoghurts, Granola - the kitchen must be busy in the morning! Well done to all the staff - you put on a great experience!
I stayed here at short notice, having to leave the hotel I’d been booked to stay in. Sammy on the front desk was a delight, pleasant, informative and welcoming. The room was clean, warm and comfortable - the bed perfect for a great nights sleep. Could not fault the hotel or staff and would definitely choose to stay here again.
A massive thank you to Andrea who was working at reception this evening, was able to go above and beyond to make my stay more enjoyable. I will certainly be staying here again in the future, thanks to her :)
We chose this hotel for its great location. Unfortunately, the hotel didn't meet our expectations. Rooms were dirty and no one cleaned our room in 4 nights which for me is a bit unacceptable. We had a room on the 11th floor and you can not even crack the window open for a bit of natural ventilation on that floor. The bed had wheels which were a bit funny because we were waking up in a different spot every time :))). Also, the receptionist woke us up on the last day asking us "when were we going to check out?". This never happened to me before, as I was aware of the time slot I would check out and I very well knew it.
Stayed for 3 nights, check in was fine, staff friendly and helpful. The room was quiet and comfortable, perfect for a good nights sleep. The TV did not have a sleep timer, which is just a personal preference of mine! Would definitely recommend this hotel, central location and safe.
Stayed here for two nights a couple of weekends ago. The hotel is in a great location, very central to the shops and bars. There is no on site parking but we parked at the nearby train station which charges 12.50 for 24 hours. Staff very friendly, especially the young lady showing us to the table at breakfast. The rooms unfortunately are quite small, the bed is a double, I have a king size at home so the bed just didn’t feel big enough. The thing that let the whole place down was the cleanliness of the room, it was just filthy. Dust over all the surfaces, the carpets had thick dust around the edges of the room and filthy, dusty skirting boards. I found somebody else’s nail on the floor along with a screwed up receipt. The bath had pubic hairs in and long blonde hairs on the bathroom floor. The bed also had small dark hairs in. It’s just not good enough, it takes an extra 2 minutes to pull the pipe out of a henry hoover and to hoover the skirtings and edge of the carpet. Also we needed the iron, the plate was covered in rust, once I’d plugged it in it blew the electrics in our room, probably because it hadn’t been tested for safety since 2018! This hotel could be so must better if they spent just a little longer cleaning the rooms. We won’t be staying there again.…
Stayed only one night for work. All staff are very friendly. Location is convenient as it is next to the station. Price, no complain for its location. Late check out , 12 o'clock policy, great!!! I have a bit time to spend AM., so I checked out 11AM, then asked the receptionist to keep my overnight bag. She said "no、 the space is full. You have already checked out, No place to leave your luggage. now," That's all,. The space wasn't full, but according to heir regulation, it was full. After a big negotiation, finally she took my bag but very offensive way. As I enjoyed staying there after one day hard work, The last moment of the check out made me so down. She should have been a bit more flexible. Please ask if here is a space for your luggage before you check out.
Stayed for one night over the weekend. A little bit of a mix up on check-in after receptionist realised we had booked to check in at 12pm rather than 3pm – Having initially being slightly abrupt they clawed back the situation admirably and checked us in successfully. We booked a standard room which was just as described, with a small but adequate bathroom, which was fine for our purposes. The beds were amazingly comfortable, and we had a relaxing night’s sleep. The views over the city were great from the restaurant and we enjoyed our drinks and meal in the bar & restaurant where the staff were excellent. A real credit to the hotel. All so extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was great – Nice and hot with plenty of choice. We found the hotel to be of a 4 star standard without being too pretentious, which we liked. The bar area even had sky sports which was a big bonus for me. We really enjoyed our stay here. The city centre location close to Cardiff central train station was a big plus for us. Despite being very close to Cardiff’s popular nightlife we were not troubled by any noise during the night. Will definitely be returning to this very welcoming hotel and hopefully for a longer break next time.…
