Booked afternoon tea for myself, sister & mum for my sisters birthday. Was really looking forward to it as we haven’t been able to spend time like this together for months on end. Plus it was the sisters birthday. The waiter was lovely. Tea & coffee arrived cold... this was changed no problem. Still not great but hey ho 30 mins after arriving the ‘platter’ arrived. We all looked at the unappetising food thinking :- A- that doesn’t look great B- where’s the rest C- nothing like what we’ve had previously or the picture in the website... The brownie was no bigger than a Lego brick The sandwiches were dry. The egg Mayo was probably the best. Can’t really go wrong with that though. Mini blueberry muffin, half a mini tart, half a mini eclair BUT we did get a whole scone !! Explained to staff that this was sub-standard & for the price was disgusting. The staff agreed & tried to pacify us with an extra dessert !! The excuse provided was they were struggling with suppliers due to Covid !! Let’s face it none of us have struggled baking in Covid have we ?!?!?! If you are unable to provide the usual standard, let people know. Don’t try to rip them off with food that looks like it’s come from the Christmas dessert section in Iceland !! The staff were brilliant & whole heartedly agreed it was poor. I have the feeling this has been the case for a while. No wonder we were the only people in there !! I expected more from The Hilton !

3 rooms, each disturbed by unnecessary evacuation alarm with no assistance or condolences given. Never experienced anything like it in my life, anywhere in the world and staff told us “we don’t refund or acknowledge. Shame as this is my wedding night.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay...yet again!! This hotel never fails to deliver!! Despite the COVID situation, we felt completely safe and looked after during our stay. As HH Gold members we were upgraded to the Executive floor and enjoyed all the benefits related to it. We were assigned a beautiful room overlooking the castle!! Fantastic breakfast in the morning and we were served by Joel in the Metropole Lounge. Thank you also to Carmelita who cared for us in the “impromptu executive lounge” in the restaurant area. This has nothing to do with the hotel, but it was a shame that the people in the room next to us (705) seemed to be cooking in their room (the smell came through their door and the vents) and made loud noises during the night. Love this hotel, and we will be staying again in the new year! Thanks Gareth

Would highly recommend. We stayed 3 nights. Excellent location. Hotel was quiet and had some restrictions understandably due to current covid situation. We were made fully aware before we arrived what restrictions were in place. As we were kept up to date, it didn't dampen our stay. Hotel was spotless. Staff were very professional and welcoming. Plenty of places to hand sanitise. Staff, hotel, location all made our stay just perfect.

Have stayed once or twice a year for a few years and really like it here. Enjoyed this visit but not quite so much. The usual friendly well-presented check-in. However, a little surprised to be given a second floor room when the Hilton website describes the king junior suite as 'high floor'. There are some nice views from the high floors. Should have queried immediately but here to relax and just wanted to go and rest before a swim. Room was immaculate and spacious, while I wondered whether to query the high floor I heard a lot of noise. Realised there was a connecting door, perhaps the guests next door were particularly loud however I've never had a problem with noise before. Back to reception to ask for another room. First I was told they were very busy and had no alternative rooms. I was quite disappointed and the manager came. She said they had one other room, next door to the first room. I asked to look. Another nice room, not quite so spacious but no connecting door or noise. I reiterated my disappointment about the high floor and the manager was perfectly pleasant but said this had never been an issue before. I accepted the room and she went to sort out the keycard. When she returned I showed her the website stating the king junior suite is on a 'high floor'. She said she'd take a screenshot and get in touch with the web people then left. All perfectly pleasantly handled but given the evidence and my disappointment I think it could have been better. On with relaxing. Pool was great but you'll need to book and I saw a few people turned away. The replacement for the executive lounge is around 10 tables in part of the Grey Restaurant. The optimistically named canapes are crisps, olives, breadsticks, Babybels and cheddar cheese. I liked the red wine and music so stayed longer than intended. Excellent cleaning between guests. A quiet night's sleep with a superb bed and bedding. Up early and took a long time for the shower to run hot. Breakfast at 7:30 was very quiet. I think it's slipped a little though, perhaps Covid related. No sign of Emmental only Babybels, Cheddar and Red Leicester. No chocolate croissants. Overcooked dry bacon. No black pudding. No rolls only white or brown sliced bread. Last visit the coffee was great, visit before that it wasn't and now it's somewhere in the middle (good for a hotel). Checkout at 12 and the maid knocked and came into the room around 10:45 then apologised. This hasn't happened to me before unless I've been staying another night and not popped the door not disturb sign on. I really like it here, expect to stay again and hope when I do I feel it's back to being excellent - but very good is still very good!
