Our overnight stay was a delight from beginning to end. We were greeted by Ashley who made us feel really welcome and gave us all the information we needed. She is such a great ambassador - warm, engaging and polite. She even called us as we arrived in our room to make sure everything was to our liking. It certainly was - we had booked a St David’s suite and it was truly luxurious, spotlessly clean, masses of space and with a floor to ceiling view over the bay. We were initially undecided on where to eat in the evening, so went down to the bar for a drink while we deliberated. We were served at our table immediately by Tom - another credit to this team! He was so friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and made us feel hugely welcome. The drinks arrived and were replenished very promptly! We decided there and then to eat in the restaurant where we were served by Steve - again, a fantastic member of the team who we really enjoyed chatting with between courses. He also knew exactly how much extra spice to add to the (delicious) channa masala to make it exactly to my taste! This hotel exudes quality in every aspect, but what struck us was the professionalism and warmth of every team member. We will definitely be coming back!

We’d stayed here a few years ago in a room on a higher floor with a beautiful view. So I was initially disappointed with our double double room on the first floor. We did look towards the bay but it was obstructed by ugly scaffold like bars and a concrete area. Beds were very comfortable. Towel very fluffy but did have some black marks on them. They were swiftly replaced though. We were on DBB and food choice was disappointing on first night but fortunately a new menu was introduced on the second night which was better. We used the pool twice which has to be booked, 45” slots and this seemed to work well. Staff everywhere were very polite and helpful abiding and enforcing COVID rules so you felt safe. The organisation in the dining room seemed lacking as quite a few orders went to the wrong people. We enjoyed our stay. It was expensive for what it was but a welcome change of scenery.

I used the voco St David's while on a business trip in January 2020. It is spacious, clean, and comfortable, while providing a friendly and professional service. A good couple of nights sleep were had! The pool/spa area was lovely to use after work, too. The hotel was central to where I was needing to be, and provided a lovely walk to and from other areas. Hopefully will be able to return for a recreational visit, and explore Cardiff a bit more.

Excellent stay. I would definitely recommend getting breakfast as well as it is amazing and can be quite cheap if you book it with the room rather than requesting breakfast when you get there. Covid friendly too with the spa - didn’t come into contact with anyone and anyone in the spa was 2m apart! Would definitely recommend been to this hotel for every occasion and this occasion was by far the best stay!

Book St David’s purely due to their claim to be a luxury five star hotel. How disappointed myself and my family were from start to finish. Booked along with 9 other family members for my mother in-laws 70th birthday, finally able to meet up after the second lockdown period in Wales. Our booking boasted complimentary parking, arrived no spaces left (too be expected, parked in the next car park cost £24). Arrived at the doors of the hotel, queuing outside to check in, no movement for 20 minutes, nobody explaining what the hold up was, or the measures put in place due to Covid etc. Get to reception to check in, our bookings were not correct, my mother in law had upgrade to deluxe king room with breakfast, firstly she was told she had “no” room!! Then they had found her room but no breakfast! The gentleman serving us obviously thought that his face mask also masked his facial expression however continuous eye rolling does not go unnoticed when you are trying to resolve your query. Then we were informed we should have breakfast and dispute it the following morning as he could do nothing about it. We were told the only available breakfast slot was 8am which was very early when you would like to sleep a little later on the weekend. We were told we could request room service for a later breakfast which we agreed to be told we would have to pay for room service! We were then advised to ring 30minutes prior to the time we would like breakfast. The room!! On the whole the rooms were comfortable and spacious however the bathroom was very shabby! The towels had holes and I cut my toe on missing/loose mosaic tiles on the floor! My mother in-laws rooms had an empty vape bottle next to her dressing table! Which would not be expected due to the required cleaning levels during a pandemic. Staff attitude at the bar, who obviously did not realise that children under 11yrs do not require masks. Staff appeared frustrated and struggling to adapt to the new Covid rules. They were very clear of only one drink per person which was perfectly fine but when one of our party did not get their drink, were very defensive and took so long that the rest of our party had finished theirs. We were also served a bottled drink which was two months out of date which staff did not want to change! Room service: I was told to ring 30 minutes prior to wanting our breakfast delivered. I started ringing at 8:48 to eat for 9:30! I eventually got through at 9:12 to be told the waiting time was 1hr, I agreed as we would eat by 10:30 having to leave at 10:45. Despite numerous calls and promises that our breakfast was on its way, I eventually went down to the restaurant at 10:35 as breakfast hadn’t arrived. The restaurant was empty.. we were told we could take a seat as our order was in the kitchen. Our breakfast was served, dried up and difficult to eat, coffee cold even though that was served fresh, my sons eggs not cooked!! We left our breakfast as we had to leave. Check out was the same level of service as check in. Nobody wanted to listen and could not “do anything” about our complaints... What should have been a lovely family celebration for my mother in-laws 70th birthday was so stressful and ruined due to totally unacceptable customer service. If there was a zero rating I would truly give that rating. I am so disappointed that you have ruined our celebration but most importantly didn’t want to listen or try to do anything to make it right.
