The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor. We offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal timesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00P.M. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30P.M.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30P.M. Table allocation after 6.30.Pm. Will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30P.M.)In peak season we cannot accept table bookings at all due to the volume of trade

Very clean and tidy Inn, great spacious room with a lovely bathroom, be careful in some areas with limited headroom due to exposed roof beams. Nice selection of evening meals and a great Breakfast. Great location for walking around the town and castle. Staff friendly, public bar was very busy, just outside Inn is a playground area.

Enjoyed all their cask ales in the sun drenched terrace, lovely building and helpful staff. Hotel looks nice and great location. We recommend all the food and ale! Peak hours probably best booking ahead as it gers fairly busy in the nice weather

Thank you so much for the lovely review. The Black Boy is now slowly getting back to where it was. It has always been a busy Inn with staff at the top of the game training youngsters from February onwards in readiness for the summer months. This year the younger members and we had 7 days to get ready. But they have shown their grit and got there so thank you. We do not accept bookings at all for tables. We operate a waiting list at the door.

Lovely stay at the Black Boy. Room was great, large and very comfortable bed. Good choice of breakfast. Parking is £5 per night to park next to the hotel but they will give you free parking for your stay at the castle which is a 5min walk away, not ideal If you have luggage. Only downside was the limited evening meal menu. Would recommend and stay here again. If you want to eat anywhere else In Caernarfon you must book as everywhere gets booked up fast!

Suppliers are really struggling to get stock so of course, it has a knock on to us.

Staff were trying their best but were inexperienced. Had to queue in small lounge bar area and entrance corridor people we queuing and people coming out of the wrong entrance. My understanding is that when dining in licensed premises it should be table service only and guests be should remain seated. There appeared to be little organisation. Staff did not appear to know the menu. Food was good and we chose to eat outside and service was good but we would not return in the current covid climate as did not feel measures were adequate.

Thank you for your review, I do agree that although they are working extremely hard many of our new staff are inexperienced and due to the current restrictions, it is hard to train them as we normally would. We like most of the hospitality industry are really struggling with staff shortages and are trying our best, we do ask that people remain seated, and we provide table service as much as we can. When we are busy, we will ask that from tables sitting outside that 1 person comes in to order and we make sure that the room is well ventilated. I can only apologise if you did not feel that our measures are accurate, but I can assure you that we are always following the guidelines.
