was told the room was lovely (it wasnt... it was tiny and pokey), we weren't well received by receptionist when we asked if she spoke welsh, the sanitisers were empty and there was hardly any shampoo or soaps in the hotel room... really poor value for £145 for B&B.

We booked the best room in this hotel on Thursday 17-06-21 the room cost £170.00 for one night no breakfast was included because with COVID restrictions this was not possible as the restaurant could not comply with 2meter distancing so that was fine and understood the staff were helpful and polite but what We are incredibly annoyed about we had gone out for a wonderful meal had the best night but when we got back to the hotel at 10.25pm we asked for a night cap and was swiftly told no you can’t the bar is shut appalling honestly spoilt our whole stay surly that’s not a big ask.

Having read other reviews after booking ! I had a certain level of trepidation on arrival. Paid top dollar for a sea view, four poster, deluxe B & B. Basically this is a 3 star hotel into which they've shoe-horned a number of fancy rooms. The rest of the hotel is as to be expected, clean, tidy, old fashioned. But to be fair, my room was 4 if not 5 star. Good quality fittings, lots of space, comfy if a bit soft bed. Shower room and free standing roll top bath. Cleanliness appears fine. Very large TV. Tea & coffee making facilities were a bit 3 star! A few minor maintenance issues which you wouldn't expect in a top-end hotel. I've just returned from breakfast which was fine and in keeping with a 3 star hotel. The food was simple but well cooked. The restaurant is more of a "dining hall" & lacking in any ambience but the staff were pleasant and helpful. All in all, I'm quite happy with my stay and I feel that the cost was just about justified. Obviously some people have had some poor experiences here but my stay has been fine.

I had booked two nights at the Marine Hotel for my son and myself during half term, in a compact double room, and was looking forward to a pleasant break. However, when we arrived we were given the key to a tiny room with one single bed. I returned immediately to reception, only to be told that, although a mistake had been made, the hotel was fully booked, and they had nowhere to put us! As you can imagine, I was horrified, and my son was close to tears. What made the experience even worse was that no effort at all was made to help us find somewhere else to stay, and we barely even got an apology with our refund! I would have expected to be offered something in an attempt to make up for such a terrible mistake, and it beggars belief that a hotel of that size can't even offer a 'put-up' bed, but the customer service was zero. We were basically left to fend for ourselves, and try and find another room within a matter of hours, during a half term when the whole of Aberystwyth seemed to be fully booked. I am absolutely disgusted by the Marine's lack of service, and will never consider going there in future.

Last minute night away in Aberystwyth found this hotel on booking.com but booked direct with a discount. Was great value and was a very pleasant experience. Lovely hotel, helpful staff and good breakfast. The most amazing view across the bay and best thing listening to the sea while going to sleep. Felt like we had a good weekend break and Hendy to get to Borth for the day the next day.
