I stayed two nights in a single room, charged £105 although I've just notice their own web page says prices up to £70. The bathroom was clean as it was the bed was clean ( and fairly comfortable) , and the room was quiet as not facing the street .The walls and carpet were full of stains, windows very dirty, voile in the windows torn... I knew the hotel and I was aware it would be a bit tired and old fashion but I found it's state shocking ( I think it is profoundly disrespectful to it's guests specially when just cleaning the windows and carpet , a bit of paint and a new voile was all needed to make it presentable) . The staff I encountered when booking into the hotel and breakfast times were friendly and polite
This without question is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. The owner/manager is a complete waste of space. I'd be surprised if this hotel stays under current ownership for long..... I wouldn't pre-pay !! Talking to locals they say it is referred to in the town as the Faulty Towers of Aberystwyth. Rooms are simply awful and the noise throughout the night was unbearable. Staff are lovely (best asset the hotel has) but the owner just doesn't care and keeps saying "You don't have to stay here" ... actually you do when its pre-paid for and no refund is their policy.
Booked 5 single rooms on arrival got 2 singles, a twin and a double suite with a shared bathroom 10 inches between beds, no wardrobe no drawers no bedside tables and lamps, goyt better cleaning rags in my garage then the bath towel, thin, frayed and holes, when I went to complain all I got told was I didn't have to stay if I didn't want to(already paid and no other hotel available) offered me a free beer, not bothered about customer service, noise from nearby student accommodation (or crack house) went on all night, a town and hotel to avoid at all costs
Just back from a lovely 2 night stay here. The hotel is dated and the room we were in 17 is a little tired and could definitely do with updating, new furniture, carpets etc. However, it was clean and functional, although a little small. Bathroom was clean with soaps and shower gel provided. We also had a hairdryer and fan which was greatly appreciated as it was a very hot weekend. Breakfast was lovely, cereals, fruit, croissants and juices along with full English including sausage, bacon, tinned and grilled tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms, fried eggs, baked beans and toast. There is a bar and they also do bar meals and afternoon teas and the menu seemed quite extensive although we didn’t use it. The only downside was the lack of car parking. The hotel only has space for 5 cars and it’s allocated on a first come first served basis. Parking is restricted on the roads around the hotel and there aren’t many car parks in Aberystwyth for long stay or overnight so finding somewhere was a bit of a nightmare. We did manage to find a street which didn’t seem to have restricted parking so we took our chance and thankfully didn’t get a ticket. Aberystwyth was beautiful, so much to see and do, especially as we were fortunate with the weather. So all I’m all, a fab 2 night stay and the only reason I’ve given 4 not 5 stars is the hotel needs some TLC and car parking issues.…
A fabulous hotel, just a couple of streets back from the front. Clean and fresh. Towels, soap and shower gel supplied as well as a hairdryer(always a plus). A well stocked breakfast selection and the cooked breakfast was a great bonus. Helpful, friendly staff and Covid compliant. We felt comfortable staying here.
