I booked here for a birthday stay. The premises on arrival was super impressive, very grand. Our room wasn't in the main building but a new extension, which was fine but I did think it was a little misleading from what I was shown when booking. Room was clean but bathroom could have done with an update. Covid secure and felt very safe, as main areas were clean and masks being worn. The outside seating area is amazing, very picturesque and a lovely place to relax. The bar makes great cocktails. We booked in for dinner one night, and frankly it was a disaster. My food was cold and dry and I sent it back,by the time a new dish came my husband had finished eating, wrong starters were brought up and the staff were not attentive. I did complain, and to be fair they took the whole cost from the bill, however I would much rather have a nice meal than the discount at the end due to it being a disaster!

First impressions were very good as the main building and groundslooked very impressive. Alarm bells started ringing as a scruffy entrance was followed by a less than impressive reception. We were in pear tree mews and the room was very disappointing. Dusty, peeling wallpaper, window that wouldn't shut, loose taps in a very dated bathroom.Poor service in the bar as the barman couldn't be bothered to make a cocktail as he had a very busy evening ahead .Glass of wine and a bottle of corona £15.Very expensive. We did enjoy our evening meal in the restaurant but did find the room very depressing. Awful night's sleep due to very uncomfortable bed. Breakfast wasn't a good experience. Cheap orange juice and coffee and a breakfast i couldn't eat and my wife barely touched. We were contemplating leaving a day early but after a busy day decided just to sleep and missed breakfast and found somewhere else to eat. Never again and can't believe this is 4 star.

Booked this hotel for 2 nights for a birthday treat. Originally were meant to be going for a city break abroad but for obvious reasons it got cancelled, so was feeling slightly low but decided to book this last minute instead. The hotel was well aware this was for a birthday, I mentioned it in a couple of emails, as well as 2 of my friends surprising me with a couple of bottles of Prosecco in the room when I arrived with a birthday note, so there is absolutely no excuse for the hotel not acknowledging it once. Just a happy birthday when I checked in would have been enough! But nope, no one ever mentioned anything. Made me feel pretty under valued. I suppose we have been spoilt as we both work in the training and marketing department of one of the most successful tour operators in the UK, so have stayed in a lot of amazing hotels, and deal with hospitality suppliers all over the world, who go above and beyond for their clients, well it’s definitely not the case here! On top of that when I emailed earlier in the day before arrival to confirm our dinner reservations that night (I’d booked the week before) the operating manager emailed me back to tell me the restaurant was full and she couldn’t book us in! It went on to cause 2 hours of stress of me forwarding the emails confirming our reservation, explaining this was for my birthday dinner etc etc, and never got a reply! I eventually had to call the hotel and the person on the desk simply said ‘I can see your reservation here, you’re booked in’. No apology for the wrong email, causing any stress etc. I then emailed the manager again to let her know that I was right, I had a booking all along, and still never got a reply!! No apology, no acknowledgment. I was pretty astounded by the treatment to be honest. I also had been asked to fill out a form prior to arrival to help the check in progress with Covid etc etc, and then we got asked every single question again when we checked in, again no acknowledgment I’d sent the form and was having to repeat information. Final nail in the coffin for us was when we ordered room service on the Saturday morning for breakfast, and the tray was still there in our room with our cold leftovers over 24 hours later when we came to check out!! A decent room (not great view) and nice bathroom, but more a hotel to take advantage of if you need to be in the area, definitely wouldn’t recommend for a special weekend away, you are made to feel far less than special...

One of the most amazing hotels we have ever stopped in and an even better wedding venue! We had amazing support throughout our planning and the wedding day itself despite all the changes we had to make due to Covid with Katie supporting us along each step and being there on the day as a friendly face. Natalie and Paige were fantastic on the day before our wedding and on the day itself to make sure everything ran smoothly and perfectly to plan and made the day even better than we could have imagined. We would recommend the Wood Norton without any hesitation for anyone looking for a unique hotel with a real high quality feel to it! Thankyou for making our wedding day so amazing!

Terrific few days. The hotel is an ideal base to explore the Cotswolds. The rooms are extremely comfortable, the service is excellent and the food absolutely lovely. COVID restrictions were well balanced to allow an enjoyable stay yet remaining confidently safe. Even the hotel cat (Bear) was a delight !
