    Not superb but very good
My family and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa. On arrival we checked in and we were given directions to our “Signature” family room. As we made our way to our room I noticed they have everything in place for COVID but considering this hotel must have been closed for some time the cleanliness left a bit to be desired in some places, it certainly hasn’t been deep cleaned, having said that, overall the hotel is very tidy, It just seemed to lack attention to detail. Once in our room we immediately felt it was unclean with tired paint, dripping taps and the most awful amount of human hair on the leather seat, like someone had a hair cut and just left it. The hair was also matted into the carpet, yuk!! I immediately went to complain to reception and the staff member initially said they would have the room cleaned as there was no other “Signature” room available, I asked if we could move to two separate rooms, we could but at extra cost, however, we were eventually given the two rooms at the original booking price, so thank you to the hotel for that. The replacement rooms we were given were much better but not perfect. If you have OCD this hotel won’t be for you, unless you turn a blind eye to a few things. After settling in we went for a swim which has to be pre booked, that is fair enough due to COVID. The pool is very pleasant and we enjoyed our time in there, you get an hour slot and you are able to spend some time in the jacuzzi too, although we were rushed out of the jacuzzi before our time one night, but hey ho!! We were advised to book the hotel direct, that way you get free use of the pool and jacuzzi. We chose to book an evening meal, this was excellent and we all really enjoyed it, can definitely recommend the evening meal. So to recap, Very tidy but not spotless Nice, friendly, helpful staff Excellent food Good location Very good pool and jacuzzi Would I return? Yes
Thank you for your review, please accept my apologies for any inconvenience you experienced on arrival. I will ensure we address your comments and continue to improve our standards for all future guests. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more favourable stay in the not too distant future. Kind regards Paul Nixon General Manager

    Excellent hotel (and dog friendly!)
We stayed for two nights in one of three dog-friendly rooms (111). The room was very comfortable with a super-king sized bed. It was clean and offered everything we wanted. There was a 'Pillow Menu' which gave a description of the pillows in the room and the ones available to request (we asked for memory foam and they were great!). The staff couldn't do enough for us and check in/out took seconds. Olivia was particularly welcoming and helpful. Re dining: The room service was quick. The menu isn't huge (forgivable given the reduction in guests!) and the provisions for vegetarians aren't amazing (but they are there). The outdoor 'under cover' dining area isn't really suitable protection from bad weather but does provide shade. There are plenty of other places to eat nearby if you have picky eaters or the weather is bad! Re dogs: The hotel has three dog-friendly rooms. These have a good sized dog bed (our lurcher was comfortable in it), food/water bowl, blanket and a little bag with a tennis ball and extra poop bags. The extra charge for the dog rooms is £15 (per stay, not per night) and half of this goes to the local rescue centre just down the road! The room was clean and there was nothing else 'doggy' about it (hair or smells). Re Covid: All the staff wore masks and stayed at a safe distance. There were hand sanitising stations at many points throughout the hotel and guests were required to wear masks in all communal areas. The general cleanliness of the hotel was great too, so we had total confidence in our safety.
Thank you for your review, great to hear you enjoyed your stay and my team ensured you were well looked after, I will certainly pass on your praise to Olivia. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back for another favorable stay in the not too distant future. Kind regards Paul Nixon General Manager

    Great hotel
We stayed in a suite on the third floor and the room was very spacious. The bedroom is separate to the living room but is open plan with curtains dividing them if you want to. The room along with the rest of hotel was spotless and everything was was of a very good standard. We ate breakfast and dinner in our room and the food quality was outstanding along with amazing service. We used the pool each day and found it very well organised during these difficult times. You must book a slot for each day so it never gets too busy and social distancing can easily be carried out. The pool and jacuzzi are very clean areas and the pool is laned off so you can swim without any issues. All staff from reception, housekeeping, pool/spa and room service were excellent and the food prices and bar prices are well priced. We had an amazing weekend and will without doubt be returning. Thanks for a great stay.
Thank you for your review, always good to receive great feedback from our guests, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope we will be welcoming you back again soon. Kind regards Paul Nixon General Manager

Fantastic hotel in a great location. Lovely room with comfortable bed and choice of pillows. Fantastic food in the restaurant. Michael and Dan were very helpful and welcoming and explained the menus fully. Loved the spar and whirlpool with outside deckchairs and recliners. All staff were very friendly and even the maintenance staff took time to say hello. Fabulous. Will definitely be back Nigel and Cath

Lovely stay here, spa facilities are fantastic and a lovely big room, staff very friendly. Came here with my wife on a last minute spa break, the hotel was amazing, spa was excellent - food was a very high standard - evening meal and breakfast 10/10 The only downside was the slow service in the restaurant however the food made up for this. Also the live music and extensive wine list. Will be back!

Had an impromptu catch up with some friends, was intending to have, a couple of glasses of wine or a coffee and cake but after such a warm welcome from a lady called Laura who found us a really comfy relaxing table to sit at we decided to stay for dinner. Good food, great service, Laura was very knowledgeable about food and drinks menus , she made our evening a really enjoyable experience, we can highly recommend Thorpe park hotel as a great place to meet up with friends. The Oulton Hall hotel is our usual venue , We may have been converted and make it our regular place to meet . Thank you for an truly enjoyable evening.

As the title suggests, we experienced an awful experience the second time around. It seems that you are judged on the day of, arrival by the receptionist. Our first trip which was in July. We stayed for two nights and had a lovely experience. The receptionist was lovely and kind and did not charge us for parking did not charges for the use of the spa facilities and did not request for a credit card for extras. Our second experience was completely different. The receptionist asked for a credit card, and when I said we did not have to do this last time, she kept saying this is company policy, she kept repeating this is company policy, this has been the company policy since I started, she failed to recognise what I was saying, and completely ignored what had been said to her. She also said that the spa was Charged at £10 per night and when I mentioned I did not have to do this the first time around again., The same words are repeated this is the company policy. Car parking we had to pay £12 again. When I mentioned we did not have to pay this the first time she kept on saying this is company policy. When my partner asked the same question they said the last time you came the barriers were broken i.e. not working so we did not charge any customers. This I do not think is correct as when we left the hotel to go out in the evening, the barriers open automatically for us. if we had to pay the barriers would not open for us upon leaving the barriers again opened up for us, and they have automatically charged us to £12. I strongly believe that the receptionist judged us by the colour of our skin and decided to charges. She also kept mentioning if you have booked by a third-party recharge for all parking spa facilities and asked for a credit card, when I mentioned we booked by third-party last time again. This is company policy. It is such a shame that the receptionist and I believe the manager could not give us a better explanation. For this reason I strongly will not recommend this hotel as they change their minds. It seems every single time you go to the hotel one day, they decide to charge you another day, they don’t. if you like to be charged and like the inconsistency of the receptionist, then please visit the hotel.

I wrote a review on Google about dusty room and about me trying to book a massage 2 weeks in advance but still failed doing so despite the fact that we was calling almost every other day to get it sorted. Knowing that its on high demand. I got a reply on that comment which you can see on the picture that I’ve attached. They are stating that I picked up the phone and I was talking to them stating I was happy with the room which is a total lie. It was my husband who picked up the call and he did not say he was happy with the room either. They did mention to him that they think it’s his partner left a review online but never ever have I spoken to any of the member of their stuff after leaving the review. Also I don’t think I would have time writing all this if as you stated I was happy with the room. This really disappointed me. Just the fact that they try to make them look better by lying 🤥 .
