Travelodge Chichester Central is often celebrated for its hospitable staff and prime location, making it a convenient choice for guests eager to explore the local area. The hotel is recognized for its cleanliness and good value, though some guests feel the rooms and amenities could benefit from modernization. While the complimentary parking is a bonus, reviewers caution that street noise can be intrusive. Despite its basic offerings, many find the overall atmosphere comfortable for a central stay.

On the most recent of many stays at the Chichester Travelodge Central I was pleased to find the same standard that I had become accustomed to. The room was clean and tidy, the team members friendly and helpful, and I was able to use my computer every day. The central location is excellent and combined with the great value for money makes it a very good choice of accommodation in Chichester.

Just back from a 4 night stay here. As a few other reviewers mentioned, there is a Wetherspoons nearby so it can be noisy at closing time. This I already knew about and expected, thanks to the other reviews. However this hotel also fronts on to the back of some of the high street shops and HGV's arrive at all times of the night/morning to unload. Last night a Sports Direct truck arrived at 2.45am, left his engine idling for 30 minutes and then proceeded to arrange the contents of the back of his lorry !! Bins were emptied at 5am on one morning and other HGV's arrived at 6am. Last but not least, we were on the top floor and as soon as it light, pigeons arrived on the roof, cooing and scratching.
In the interests of balance, the free car parking was very convenient, the street was actually pretty quiet during the day, staff were good and the location is great for exploring the town

For a standard hotel in a central location, with free parking for £30 a night in August you cannot go wrong.
Standard Travelodge accommodation.
We were in the back of the hotel so it was quiet.
Cathedral bells only started @ 7am so did not disturb our sleep.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Would definitely return.

My only suggestion for improvement would be for hotel to clean the stairway from the car park. Appreciate it's not their car park, but if used by guests would improve the journey between the hotel and car park.

Going to Chichester Festival Theatre, and initially booked into local pub rooms, then changed mind at last minute and booked in on the basis you know what you are going to get and central location. Wish I had paid the extra and stayed somewhere else as was not worth the £125 for the night, in my view.
The pluses: Central location, very clean, efficient check in, quiet, hand sanitisers and good COVID protocols.
The minuses: Whilst reception is efficient, it s not helpful with issues outside of remit (I suppose because of basic package): I asked for an extension cable as use a CPAP machine to sleep and wall sockets were on adjacent side to the bed, but was directed to Robert Dyas ( additional £10 for a product I won't need again!). My fault for assuming there would be a power socket near the bed?
Parking option is awful. Underground car park with limited spaces next door to hotel. When full, you wait for a car to leave before you can get a parking space. I waited for over 25 minutes after a long drive. Not what you want to be doing on a break. If using note the traffic light system (Red/Green lights on access to the car park) doesn't work - permanently stuck on red for access and green for departure, regardless of available spaces.
Our bathroom sink was blocked and did not drain (you would have thought the cleaner would have noted this when cleaning before our arrival).
The TV remote did not work (possibly needed new batteries).
Other than the parking issue (you may be lucky with a space when you arrive), I could live with the rest at the price and understand why an extension cable wasn't available, but would honestly pay more happily next time to not have the parking problems and a reception staff that will go 'the extra mile' to help
Personal choice and if you are happy with just a very basic overnight stay in a central and quiet location, and don't mind potentially waiting for a parking space, it will be fine for you.

The night I stayed, the Travelodge was being used as a homeless shelter. Whilst in principle I agree with this, and believe everyone should have access to warm shelter during freezing conditions, I really think that Travelodge need to warn customers about this. I paid £55 to stay overnight (no WiFi or breakfast included), as was in the city for business - and honestly hardly slept as there was shouting and banging doors all night. As a lone female traveller, this was extremely worrying but as it was late when I arrived I had no other option but to stay. My work day the next day was a disaster as I wasn’t rested at all.

On arrival I was advised by reception staff to park opposite hotel entrance rather than in underground parking for my own safety.

Shower pressure wash very low and whole room and bathroom felt tired and a bit dirty which is unlike my previous business travel experiences with Travelodge.

I booked this thinking “at least you know what you’re getting with Travelodge”, but I absolutely had NO idea what I was getting! Absolutely avoid at all costs - I’d prefer to drive 5 hours round trip in a day, than ever stay here again!

I’ve had the pleasure of staying in this hotel, over 15 times in the last year for business reasons, and have built a really nice rapport with the great team that work there and cannot do enough for you!

The hotel is in a great location, hidden down a side street of Chichester city centre.

As with all travelodge’s, the rooms are functional, always clean, the beds are very comfortable and clean with additional pillows provided if required.

As stated, the biggest positive to this hotel, is the team members that I have had the pleasure of dealing with, to list just a few that have become quite recognisable, for their customer service are Gina (manager) Elen (supervisor) jo (beanie), and Sarah! And I feel sad I can’t remember everyone’s names, as I have not had one bad experience from the team at the hotel, they all do a fab job, and deserve the recognition for the tough job they have had this past year, still remaining open during the pandemic and as they were one of the selected hotels that have been housing the rough sleepers during the pandemic, they have made the best of a bad situation, and taken it in their stride and acting as “support” for these people.....and having worked with the homeless myself, I know how challenging it can be and so I can’t commend them enough!

You’re always greeted by a friendly smiling face and A clean room.....what more can you ask for?!

Abs just a final pointer......the rooms I’ve been getting ranging from £22.99-29.99 per night, you can’t complain!!

Already wrote in on the travelogue survey! But just a quick review to say why I have given it five stars. I’ve stayed in many travelodges across the country due to my job and this by far had the best welcome. Gina is an absolute gem and her customer service is fantastic. We checked in late about 7pm on a Monday night and we were welcomed like we had always been coming there! Cleaning of surfaces in 216 is a bit to be desired (window sill) BUT for the price/ it being a small hotel you can see they are doing their best and that’s all that counts. Would recommend highly, will definitely stay again

If you can afford to pay a bit more for a hotel room in Chichester then you would be wise to. Only 1 bath towel in the bathroom for 2 guests and the room wasn't refreshed as we didn't hang the sign on the door (usually its when you don't want the room refreshing you do that). I had to ask for more tea bags and milk for our 2 night stay and we just about managed with the 1 toilet roll we were provided with. The air conditioner was very noisy like sleeping next to an aircraft travelling down the runway. We parked our car for free on the underground car park next door and the steps down to it can only be described as a toilet the smell was just horrible. If Travel Lodge are asking guests to park there then they should make an effort to disinfect the stairs from time to time even if they do not own the car park. Won't be staying there again.

We had to travel to Chichester for a few days on family business. We have stayed at this Travelodge before and booked five nights at a very reasonable price. Initial impressions very good, receptionist (Beany) was excellent, helpful and polite and explained safety measures in place due to covid 19, could not have been a better welcome to our temporary home. Get to room, more good news, spotlessly clean, bedding and towels clean and fresh. If we had only stayed here one night, review would end on five stars! So, the bad points, Travelodge have humanely displayed their commitment to their local community by offering accommodation to homeless people. Other local accommodation providers have done the same with one exception, once open for paying customers, no accommodation is offered to homeless persons. I must stress that at no time was any physical agression or impolitness directed at me or my wife, however the appearance of drunken, shirtless men staggering in and out of the reception area was intimidating. The smell of cannabis in the lifts was a distraction and the sound of several of these men enjoying a few cans of something in the exterior smoking area was annoying. The staff have offered nothing but professionalism and excellent customer service. Indeed I felt empathy for the staff watching how they dealt with several of the aforementioned men at the reception desk, when the men had obviously been drinking alcohol and smelled of (amongst other things) cannabis.

I am not a NIMBY but should paying customers be expected to share accomodation with persons who normally sleep rough?
