Good food. Friendly and accommodating staff. Value for money. Nice environment. I highly recommend the afternoon tea experience at Malmasion. There was a wide variety of food and pastries. The staff ensured that we had everything that we needed

I stayed on a work stop over, I booked the Malmaison due to its location and it was fantastic. Great helpful staff at check in, room was clean and fresh. Cocktails in the bar were excellent and as mentioned location was fantastic. The malmaison group do not disappoint.

Malmaison is very close to Birmingham New St (Grand Central. If you use the right exit, it's a straight 3-5 minute walk. Handy tip, it's very easy to pick up an uber from Navigation Street. The reception area is small but we found the staff at all times particularly welcoming. Anna, who did our check-in, chatted about our reason for visiting (graduation) and, when we asked for an ice bucket in the room, brought it herself and gave us vouchers for a complimentary cocktail. The rooms are beautiful and calming in soft greys. We had twin beds with heaps of room between them. There were good quality tea and coffee items to use and everything was very clean. The bath is full-sized. Our cocktails were superb. We didn't eat at the hotel. We stored our bags while we were at graduation.

We visited Malmaison many times in the past and have to say this was the most disappointing meal we have ever eaten here This restaurant was once a chef led restaurant producing the best in Birmingham sadly the new management have not taken what was a successful restaurant forward and the decline in quality of food is seen by drop in numbers and ambience We will never eat here again

Our room was classed as a twin room but was just two single beds pushed together with one large duvet on top, so was pretty much a double room, which was annoying but tolerable. Both the room and bathroom were very spacious and the shower was nice and powerful. Dinner and breakfast at the Chez Mal restaurant was okay. I had the linguine arrabiata with tiger prawns. There was alot of pasta so I only managed half but it was nice anyhow and the prawns were nice and meaty. My friend had the chicken kiev, which she found very dry. Breakfast was nice. There was an option to pay extra for a cooked breakfast, which we chose not to do. Good choice of continental breakfast items (pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal) although there were a few flies landing on the food. The spa facilities were fine, although some may find it quite small. It wasn't very busy at all so we were the only people in there for a long while so we were able to relax. I would say the only let down for me personally was the massage I had. The therapist spoke through majority of the massage, which I didn't find relaxing at all. There was a certain topic brought up by the therapist concerning her way of life which made me feel uncomfortable. I did engage a bit in the conversation as I thought it might be rude to ignore and didn't want any awkwardness. That being said, I actually left the massage very annoyed and feel like that was money wasted. Overall, the hotel and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. And of course, the hotel is in a great location so we did pop into Tesco Express in the Mailbox for a few snacks.
