We have used this hotel for several years and chose it due to location rather than quality of stay. Now it has all changed, The hotel is now rebranded to Marriot AC Hotel , and what a change. You notice the improvement in quality of establishment as soon as you approach the reception desk. It is now smart and modern... More

My husband and I stopped here last night. Even though we are originally from Birmingham, it felt like we were on holiday. Great location near the bars and canal. Room was super clean and comfortable and very stylish. We would definitely return. Though some biscuits with the tea tray to nurse a hangover wouldn't go amiss.

Let me start with a very important recommendation: DO NOT book a superior room with a view of the canals if you're a light sleeper and/or if you're staying on Friday/Saturday! These rooms have the worst soundproof isolation I've ever experienced in a hotel - actually, they don't have any! What to expect as a result of that? The area... More

Booked a three night stay for a business trip, was curious about a big chain like Marriott attempting a boutique hotel experience. Don't get excited! It's an exercise in style, no substance. The hotel is fine, and they have attempted a few nice touches (free water in the rooms, actually that was the nice touch....!) but there is no soul.... More

I chose the AC Hotel because of its proximity to the New Street rail station as my place to stay following an overnight flight into BHX. It turned out to be an excellent decision. I did have to ask for directions in the rail station to find the correct exit from the rail station but once outside and a block... More

Ended up staying here while on business in Birmingham and was very impressed. Assume it's had a recent refurb as it looks very slick. Girls on reception were great and the room was very spacious and modern. The bar looks nice but I didn't frequent it. Breakfast was a bit below par but that won't massively detract from a very... Stayed over night here celebrating my mums 50th. Lovely hotel in fantastic location, restaurants on your door step (literally). Hotel has its own Starbucks which is a great bonus. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, the bed was massive and soft (i slept like a baby). Also the shower was big and all toiletries were provided. Staff were... More

The hotel is very nice, the view and the location absolutely great. Rooms are comfortable as well as beds, also they are very clean. The staff is nice and helpful and the breakfast is very good. We just had a few issues. First of all the hotel is in a very nice place, canalside, but it means that you can't... More

Unusual for me to rate a 5 for a Marriott, but this place is brilliant! 5 minute walk from New St Station and The Bullring shopping, and right at the end of The Mailbox (which is brilliant). The welcome was very pleasant, the room was really modern with a big flat tv. Room was spotless, modern shower room, huge comfy... More

Stayed two nights on the odd side of the fourth floor. It's a lively area next to the Maibox. The pluses are you have plenty of places to eat and drink the negative is you hear everyone eating and drinking below. You can walk to the train station close too the mail so the location and rooms are great it's... More
