My wife and I had arranged a break in North Wales. I broke my arm so she had to do all the driving. We arranged an overnight stay in Stratford When we arrived, the hotel propriator Pascal noticed my arm and put us in the downstairs bedroom. This is a small hotel so we were blessed. He gave us all the information we needed for a meal in the town on a Sunday night We had an excellent breakfast. Pascal was a lively character, as good as a Shakespearean actor!

The Owner, Pascale was extremely helpful, and friendly. His Cooked English Breakfast was cooked to perfection, and was filling enough to last us through to an evening meal. Our rooms, on the top floor was small, but private, and was adequately furnished for a short stay. They had plenty of outlets, and included a t.v. hairdryer, towels, tea/coffee making facilities. Easy off street parking at the rear of the house. The who place was very clean and well maintained. The location is perfect for all that this beautiful town has to offer. Within a few minutes walk is the River Avon, and the open-top bus tours of all of the most famous of the Shakespearean buildings. Also with in walking distance is the Shakespeare Theater. I will definitely stay here again, and thoroughly recommend it.

To be honest I can't recall the last time I stayed in a guest house but booked this one based on the reviews. Maybe I was expecting more! Location is great, very convenient for the train station and if you cross through the park which is opposite the guest house into Scholars lane, at the end of the lane you will find Shakespeare's schoolroom and guildhall. Pascal was away in France when we stayed but were looked after by Vivienne. Room 5 is in the attic and could certainly do with some TLC and a deep clean. The shower in the morning (as another reviewer has mentioned) goes from scalding hot to cold and when the water gets too hot, it just shuts off completely so you can't really have a relaxing shower and it's a bit of a challenge if you want to wash your hair!. Plenty of tea bags on a tray in the room along with coffee and a pot (unfortunately stained.) Breakfast is served between 8am-9am. If the guest house is full, some guests will need to come down for breakfast at 9am because there isn't enough space for all the guests to eat at the same time. Not a problem for me and I was happy to do this. Probably this is typical guest house style but you may well end up sharing a table with other guests. I have to say that breakfast was nothing special, vegetarian option was a pile of mushrooms, 2 fried eggs (hard yolks) and a cooked tomato. Toast was provided. The next morning I just had and toast with orange juice and a pot of tea. Room 5 was not the most comfortable of rooms and I did end up with some bites on my arms! Not the fault of anyone but the park opposite does attract a group of homeless people in the evenings and I was woken up both nights of my stay by considerable noise from the park. Sorry but I would not stay again.
