About

#19 of 83 B&Bs / Inns in Stratford-upon-Avon
Travelers' Choice
This recently refurbished boutique hotel is housed in a 400 year old listed building in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Located opposite Shakespeare's school, among the ancient half-timbered buildings the town is famous for and only 2 minute's walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. This is THE place for a pre-theatre supper - local pianists play at 5.30pm daily and the atmosphere is great. The 12 funky en-suite bedrooms vary in size, cost and view. Try for a room at the front of the building for the perfect view. Great food is served all day, through till 10pm in this buzzy neighbourhood bistro with Afternoon Tea a particular favorite. Champagne Happy Hour is every Friday at 5pm and the bar is packed with a great, upmarket local crowd. The staff make the place and nothing is too much trouble.

Lovely central hotel, the staff were so friendly and chatty. The room was really nice, had everything we needed. We stayed in room 1, the only room on the ground floor right next to the bar but we weren't disturbed by noise from there. We could hear people walking around above us but it wasn't an issue. Shower was really nice. Nespresso machine. Fridge. We only stayed one night but would stay again in we were in the area. The hotel has no parking but we parked in the Rother St car park and got a parking voucher from the hotel on departure.

Arrived after driving up from London. Welcoming and attentive staff. Charming and cosy ambiance with good food and wine list. Lovely live piano music was a great addition. Good vegetarian options on a creative menu.

Love this restaurant! We've been a couple of times, and made sure to book in advance for Valentine's Day. We had such a nice evening! The ambience is fantastic, delicious food, and the piano player is always a nice touch. Also, very friendly staff.

Great location to explore historic Stratford. Comes with the inconvenience and cost of public parking five minutes away but for a one night sight-seeing trip happy to recommend, if you like period property. Friendly staff but breakfast was a bit disorganised when we were there. No place settings and the help yourself juice and coffee stood there invitingly but we were unable to indulge until someone turned up after ten minutes to provide crockery and cutlery and to take our order. Breakfast was good when it arrived although we had to ask for toast. Perhaps the usual breakfast waiter was off. Al in all we enjoyed our stay.

We wanted somewhere affordable with a lovely, stylish bedroom, good service, tasty food and right in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon. That's exactly what we got. Once they saw my walking stick they offered us a different bedroom on a lower floor without me having to ask. Recommend.
