We visited for Sunday lunch with children and grandchildren. We were given a table out of the mainstream which was good for the grandchildren. All of the adults chose from the roasts menu and the grandchildren from the kids' menu. The roast beef was delicious, succulent and tasty and good sized portions. Would have been nice to have had some green vegetables though in addition to the carrots, parsnips and potatoes. The kids' fish and chips were excellent, moist with crispy batter, and quite sizeable portions. Service was quick, efficient and friendly.
Wonderful birthday lunch, staff as always were excellent and the food didn't disappoint, Chef also went out of his way to create a birthday dessert, on a busy Sunday service that was much appreciate, thank you! The great thing is you never feel rushed, everyone commented on how lovely the food had been and pleasing everyone is never easy! One to try if you are in the area!
Just an absolute jem... we love it here and have returned again and again. The rooms are perfect.. try room 12 but we have stayed in a number and sleep comes easily. Breakfast is tasty, freshly cooked and plenty of options. If you want a boutique fabulous hotel - this is the one.
We were a group of 4 and looking for good food and not being rushed but knowing we would be done in time to visit The Bear Pit theatre - we were not disappointed. Excellent value pre-theatre meal. Great friendly staff. Reasonably priced wine-list. Definitely worth a visit.
The Townhouse was a great place to stay for access to both the historic town and the theatre. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and full of character. The staff were incredibly friendly. The food was very good, especially the hearty breakfast.
