I had booked a DBB deal through great escapes as a gift for my husband for looking after me after a recent operation. Prior to arrival I had emailed the hotel on 2/6/21 at the following address: reservationsmgr@cpnewcastlehotel.co.uk Asking for a table reservation in the restaurant for 19:30pm and to enquire whether the pool was open - I received no reply. On checking in there were 3 ladies waiting to check us in I chose the closest who checked us in and gave us information leaflet - not much else. I asked if we had a reservation for dinner made as per sent email she said to ask around the corner - which was the Gin Bar. They said we were in the wrong place to ask at restaurant she took us round - no reservation but we could have a seat in Gin bar. I thought I had better ask one of the other receptionists if we did indeed have the deal with dinner bed and breakfast as I was beginning to feel uneasy, she said yes you have a special menu and its £25pp allowance. Proceeded to the Gin bar for dinner, asked for secret escapes menu which we were given with no explanation so assumed we ordered from Starter, main and dessert. Had to go and ask if we could order food and then it took aggggeeeesss for them to take our order despite staff being plentiful. It took 45 mins for our starter (nachos and prawns to arrive), I think our starter were actually given to another couple who came after us. Could not be bothered querying it as we had also asked for a drinks menu which took them ages to find. Food was ok - curry cold. As we were leaving the young man come running out asking us to pay for our second drinks, this was the fastest I had seen anyone move all night. Room was spacious and clean - bathroom towels clean but stained and shower clean but bits falling off it. (see photos) Breakfast the next morning was lovely and the staff and service here was amazing - I noted same manager she probably needs to get the staff in Gin bar up to the same standard as the lovely staff here. On checking out paid for parking and was told we had gone over our food allowance by £9.50 - I said how did that happen - there was no prices on the menu and as nobody had explained how it worked we assumed you had a course from each selection - top tip for crown plaza if it is a certain allowance each put the price of the dishes on the menu.

stayed at this hotel for my wifes birthday and our first getaway since lockdown. The postion of the hotel was brilliant as only a few minutes walk away from places to site see. Also only 10 min walk from city centre with a wide selection of bars and restruants around. The room was spacious. Breakfast was good with a wide selection of hot and cold items. All staff where very welcoming and friendly. Had a meal in the gin bar one night and that didnt disappoint. Food was amazin and the host was fantastic. Would definitely stay again or look to use a sister hotel in future getaways...

My partner and I recently stayed here, we loved the breakfast (the waitresses were superb, the rooms (we had a really nice room with an amazing view!) and the service, the gin bar was really nice, we sat in and watched the football and had a few drinks and finished off our night with pornstar martini’s. The only issue we had was they didn’t really follow the rule of 6. We used the pool with 2 other couples and a 3rd couple walked in, we got out and left and complained saying, “we’ve both worked the last 18 months without mixing with more than 6 and we don’t want to break the rules now so close to the end of lockdown.” We also didn’t realise the cleaners were coming into our room during covid, we left not knowing or being told they were coming in. No issue…would of just like to know about it for our safety and their’s. Overall it was a really good stay! We hope to return after lockdown

Another business trip, Amazing hotel very modern and sleek, Made to feel very welcome from staff as soon as I arrived. This brings me to the room I booked a King room and wow what a room ! Lovely bathroom suite, separate shower cubicle and bath all high quality furniture ( I was a plumber in a previous life !) Air con was outstanding the view wasn't great, I was over looking the royal mail depot and I think there's been some demolition work so it was just a pile of bricks but for one night it made no difference to me. Internet was great. Restaurant on the ground floor which doubles as a gin bar is a little overpriced for my liking pint of beer is north of £6 and a steak was north of £25. I'm not tight by any means but I think it just a little steep, you don't pay that in central London. Breakfast I must admit was disappointing I had a full English, Beans luke warm, hash browns soggy and the egg had clearly been under a heat lamp. Overall 8.5/10 Would I return, Yes ! Parking is convenient and is next door you can pay at the hotel for £10 or £12 from the car park itself
