The Jesmond Dene offers very comfortable rooms in a park-like setting near the center of Newcastle. The atmosphere is quiet, like a country hotel with pleasant garden views , for us a well earned stop after 6 days of cycling in Scotland. We ate very well at the restaurant which had a good wine list and sommelier. The cheese trolley... More

As a Newcastle resident, many people have recommended Jesmond Dene House to me - however my visit exceeded even my grandest expectations! The house and gardens are spectacular. As was the decor and the delicious afternoon tea. However it was the service that has made Jesmond Dene House my favourite anniversary venue. All the staff were first class, but I... More

My wife booked the hotel for our 10th wedding anniversary as a surprise. I am sure we were the first to be married there. We were given an upgrade on the room which was very nice of the management. We had an afternoon tea which was of a very high standard most enjoyable. The superior room was lovely it was immaculate.... More

Have just spent my 70th birthday at Jesmond Dene and as always had a super time. From the room to the food to the staff it was a special day and everyone helped to make it special. ,. We always remember our visits to Jesmond Dene with fondness and will continue to visit as long as we can.

I visited jesmond dene hotel with friends for high tea in April. The setting was lovely, we appeared to be the dining area although it would have been nice to sit in one of he other rooms but it was fully booked. The high tea itself was to a good standard and staff were happy to box up anything that... More

Very good, but just came up short in a number of instances. The room (42 at the top of the new house) was good, but would have benefited from air-con rather than a temporary fan and opened windows. Wi-fi also did not work in this remote room. Service generally came up a bit short. Directions to the House could have... More

We both had high hopes for this hotel which regrettably were not realised. The room we were allocated was small which we can live with however there has been an attempt by the owners to put too much stuff in them thereby creating a v cramped experience. Then there's the bed. Both my wife and I had two of the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A grand house with contemporary style, a leafy setting near the heart of the city. Jesmond Dene House is neither a townhouse nor a country house hotel. It's simply 40 well-designed bedrooms and suites in a richly historic building offering understated luxury and rather good food. Overlooking the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene, the privately owned hotel guarantees peace, escapism and a refreshing change. Newcastle's city centre, however, is only a five-minute drive. The hotel recently received 4 red stars and the AA Hotel of the Year 2008-2009. ... more   less
