Beautiful rooms, lovely staff, an overall beauty of a building. My grizzle is a rather disappointing menu with odd sized portions (some huge, some tiny) but some with stellar highlights. Beautiful bread, amazingly cocktails but the best food was on the bar menu. The bed was very comfy and i suggest asking for a room with one of the big... More

3rd visit at this hotel , perfect location for us as its one stop on the metro from city centre or 5 minute taxi ride on the way back! So you are away from hectic noise of the city centre despite being so close yet end up in a perfect location set in a forest. Staff very polite and helpful... More

Recently stayed here only for 2 nights - not long enough. It is in a beautiful area with plenty of walks around, very peaceful surrounded by the nicest countryside. We stayed in a beautiful room. The breakfast was sensational and staff very very helpful and pleasant. A must do if in Newcastle upon Tyne.

What a great night spent at this fab hotel food was great, staff were very knowledgable and helpful. The bedrooms were clean comfortable and pleasant to stay in. To top off our stay we went for a lovely walk through Jesmond Dene which was right on the door step. I would recommend this hotel to any of my family and... More

Cosy but rather small room, tastefully furnished. The food was good but not as good as we expected reading extremely positiv comments. The location is very good for a leisurely stay, beautiful nature all around. All in all i consider the hotel rather expensive.

Surroundings are fantastic and we particularly enjoyed the wire dogs on display. The menu sounds great but we were often disappointed with the final product - some flavours did not seem to go together and limited vegetarian choice. Desserts are fabulous.

Had a very relaxing and gracious Sunday lunch here with friends. The quality of the food, presentation and staff were excellent throughout, and portions are about right. Drinks are rather more expensive than usual.

My friend and I had an overnight stay as a birthday treat. We couldn't find fault with this beautiful hotel and the amazing staff. It is a 5 minute walk from the metro in lovely surroundings and the building itself is fascinating as it was an old school. We were greeted by a friendly reception who informed us we had... More

Had afternoon tea with a friend, lovely sandwiches, scones & various cakes with a spot of earl grey and a walk around the grounds afterwards in the lovely summer sun. Will definitely be coming back again

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A grand house with contemporary style, a leafy setting near the heart of the city. Jesmond Dene House is neither a townhouse nor a country house hotel. It's simply 40 well-designed bedrooms and suites in a richly historic building offering understated luxury and rather good food. Overlooking the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene, the privately owned hotel guarantees peace, escapism and a refreshing change. Newcastle's city centre, however, is only a five-minute drive. The hotel recently received 4 red stars and the AA Hotel of the Year 2008-2009. ... more   less
