Stopped for two nights in the hotel for a wedding in August. A beautiful hotel, professional and friendly staff, the food warrants the 3 Rosettes, an extensive and thoughtful wine list, overall a very very good stay. Highly recommend the restaurant, it's seductive, charming, and a really lovely experience.

We were there for one night staying in the amazing apartment which had its own secluded sun terrace (where we sipped cocktails) From the moment we arrived to checking out the staff were amazing and nothing too much trouble for them . The evening meal was beautiful and the service was excellent . The hotel has character and beautiful surroundings... More

Between 5-7pm you can dine at the restaurant and eat from their early evening menu. Three course for £24.50 is exceptionally good value and I think two course was £20.50. I had chicken liver parfait for starter followed by stone bass for my main course. Both dishes were cooked perfectly. The restaurant was busy and understandably so. A bottle of... More

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in July considering the price it was disappointing. The room in the main house was very pleasant not large considering we had paid for a deluxe room. We had towelling robes but no slippers, the toiletries were lovely but not replaced after use, there was a fridge in the room with fresh... More

This hotel is situated minutes away from the centre of Newcastle but it's secluded valley location makes it a tranquil and intimate wedding venue. The house itself is beautiful and it's quirky rooms and friendly staff ensure you are comfortable and rested for the big day. Delicious food is guaranteed so that guests feel truly pampered. Staying at the Jesmond... More

Having not visited my home town of Newcastle for over 4 years we wanted to stay somewhere a little different and in a secluded spot close to the city center, not easy to find, but what better place than Jesmond Dene. We spent 3 nights in a suite in the new house with view over the old nursery, the rooms... More

We lived next to this hotel for many years before moving overseas. It was of course the obvious choice for a hotel when we came back home for a visit. We were upgraded to a suite in the new block on arrival which was lovely. The hotel is very quaint but modern at the same time. The bathroom was huge.... More

Beautiful place chosen for special dinner celebration. The service was not sharp enough to demand such high prices. Excellent main courses but puddings not up to the level expected. At least they've done away with the confusing arrangement of menus with one straight forward and quite extensive offering now.

Thank you for looking after us all so well at our Golden Wedding celebration earlier this week. We had booked a suite plus 4 superior rooms and dinner for 21 in the Norman Shaw Room. The canapés beforehand were excellent as was the dinner. The staff were friendly, helpful and most professional and the setting next to the Dene quite... More

Had my birthday lunch here. What an incredible experience. Great service, huge meals, and an excellent choice. The service was amazing. Beautiful grounds just added to the experience. It is expensive, though worth it for that special treat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A grand house with contemporary style, a leafy setting near the heart of the city. Jesmond Dene House is neither a townhouse nor a country house hotel. It's simply 40 well-designed bedrooms and suites in a richly historic building offering understated luxury and rather good food. Overlooking the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene, the privately owned hotel guarantees peace, escapism and a refreshing change. Newcastle's city centre, however, is only a five-minute drive. The hotel recently received 4 red stars and the AA Hotel of the Year 2008-2009. ... more   less
