Although the address is Newcastle, it is nearer Prudhoe. The setting was very pleasant. The staff were incredible. Although the dining area outside was very busy, the staff still had the time to help us register and to see to the bikes. The bikes were safely stored. The staff were superb. The lodge was very clean, and looked out on... More

Spent one night here in May, first night on Hadrian's Way (it changes to Hadrian's Wall Path just west of the The Keelman). Large, clean, and pleasant room in the Lodge and a fine meal in the pub with excellent beer--be sure to arrive before 9 pm for food, which I barely did after a late start on the walk.... More

Arrived here after our longest day's walk and after enjoying all our other stays we were looking forward to another gem. How disappointed we were. The room was shabby and not very clean. The bathroom was frankly disgusting; the toilet was broken and there was weeks of grime arond the taps, shower tap and the floor was not clean either.... More

Booked Sunday lunch for 330pm. The bar area was full and very busy. Had a short wait for a table. The restaurant looks used. Service was slow and we had to ask to be served. We had to clean the cutlery with serviette. These weren't dirty but probably lacked a finishing tablet in the dishwasher. Had to ask for more... More

Visited on 28th July 2016 celebrating my parents Diamond anniversary (60yrs). Nice restaurant we picked a quiet time. Food nice and fresh. Staff young and friendly. Pity it was raining as it's lovely walk along by the river nearby.

I have had many a pint and meal at the keelman pub and have always been impressed. So I wasn't surprised to see that the accommodation was of a similar standard. The rooms were airy, large by design and catered for our every need complimented by being yards from the restaurant and bar.....the beer and wine choices are varied given... More

A very nice pub all round with a good atmosphere and generally good food and service. Great to go down for a hot day as it has an ample sized beer garden. Food is good for the price and portion size is good. The own brewed beers are a highlight and sets apart from the pubs in around its vicinity.... More

I always visit the Keelman when I come to stay with friends in Newcastle and had meals there on several occasions which was always ok, but yesterday all 3 meals were very unappetising....definitely do not order loaded patatoes skins I don't think they were cooked and my sandwich was so bland. Shame as it a lovely pub in such a... More

This was our first night walking the Hadrian's Wall trail. My husband couldn't believe his luck to be staying in a brewery! The accommodation is separate from the bar, restaurant and brewery. It is clean and comfortable and is in a generally quiet spot (we had some troublesome noisy youngsters during our stay). The food was English pub style and... More
