#4 of 90 hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne
Travelers' Choice
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal.

Very spacious room, albeit a bit dark in the corner with the wardrobe, with a lovely, comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Good value for money. But the thing that made me rate it so highly was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful - reception, breakfast servers, bar staff and room services.

I regularly visit Newcastle and I thought to stay at Malmaison as I like to try different hotels. The location is excellent, the staff are very friendly and the room is clean and spacious. Can’t fault anything, you get what you’re paying for.

We all had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Mal, the food was very good and made special with the views of the river. Tessie looked after us and gave wonderful customer service taking the effort to ask our names and checking that we were looked after.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel it was a five star experience, the welcome we received from the reception was so friendly and helpful. The room we were given was absolutely fantastic and made the stay even better the little touch with the welcoming card and congratulations on your special anniversary was superb. The breakfast staff were magnificent and the quality of the food was out of this world. Now on to Oli in the bar what a guy so friendly and accommodating went above and beyond to get us a table at Khai Khai after we had told him we were heading elsewhere for food his recommendation to try this place made the evening. A place we will definitely be returning to a massive 10/10
