Excellent location. Right in the heart of Newcastle, just a couple of mins walk to the quayside. Very expensive hotel for what it is. Don't get me wrong it is a nice quality and a good standard but for what you pay its just now value for money. The bedrooms are very small, you get much more space in a...

This week my husband and I were visiting the castle when I saw the Redwoodbar at the back of the Vermont hotel and remembered that I had enjoyed a very good afternoon tea there on previous occassions. We popped in and explained that we were going to see the castle and could we book for an hour's time. This was...

Have stayed in many 4 star hotels and all very good including this one but the breakfast choice at The Vermont let it down, cooked breakfast ok but not much on offer on the buffet table and not displayed very well, very basic, not tempting. Very disappointing.

Really loved this hotel, very stylish and luxurious, 1930's styling. Staff were well trained and couldn't do enough for us. Free parking and our car was parked for us when the car park was busy. This hotel is in an excellent location for the center and a visit to the theater is a short walk. Set at the castle it...

The hotel was beautiful with free parking which was a lovely surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and was very clean. We decided to come to the Vermont due to the facilities but we're disappointed when we realised that the sauna was 'out of order' However it was a nice stay for a...

Absolutely disgusted that the Vermont think that it is acceptable to make charges on someone's account for something that they have not used out of the mini bar we were ACCUSED of drinking 2 drinks which were not consumed or touched, How can the receptionist inform you that there are no extra charges on check out and then take money...

Lovely hotel overlooking the quayside. Arrived at 9am and our room was ready, so we were able to leave our luggage, freshen up and explore this wonderful city. Room was a luxury twin, river views and 2 double beds. Worth the little extra cost. An added bonus is the lift to lower ground floor levels to gain access to the...

Had an afternoon tea voucher, by going near Xmas there was only the festive menu available-not a problem, the choice was still good and varied. Served in the bar area with attentive staff and no rush to leave we had a very comfortable relaxing afternoon .

Dated hotel..: only plus side is location. However when the bouncers/concierge punch you and inflict a serious head injury just because you can't produce a room card even though you can produce the credit card you paid for the room then I'd say definitely avoid!

We stayed here to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary after getting married at the hotel. We had a lovely card in the room and a slice of cake from the hotel a lovely touch. The rooms and the hotel have been updated however some of the work is a little questionable especially paint work. Rooms are lovely and big...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Few hotels can boast a more enviable city centre postcode than the Vermont Hotel, for this imposing structure is located in the heart of the City of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, not only next to the Castle Keep and opposite the historic Moot Hall, but also just two minutes from Newcastle's Central Station. Combining old character in the form of 1930s grandeur with contemporary elegance and four-star luxury, the landmark building is your base from which to discover the many bars, shops and attractions of the town centre and wider area. Look outside your window and you might see such sights as the River Tyne, Millennium Bridge or stunning cathedral, and it's not the only mark of the sheer inspiration of the Vermont Hotel experience. That's because the reasons for the hotel's reputation become clear with a stay in any one of its sophisticated bedrooms, which are finished in soft relaxing colours while also coming with a wealth of facilities for your pleasure and comfort, including - among others - private en-suite bathrooms, a mini bar and free Internet access. ... more   less
