Third visit for Sunday lunch with friends and each time the standards and service have been very high. Service from the friendly team could not have been better. Good portion sizes and the roast beef was cooked to perfection - rare was really rare. Often disapointed at some places when it has been cooked to death and ends up with... More

I was disappointed with my stay at The Vermont Hotel. Having paid £129 for a double for one night I was expecting a four star experience. Unfortunately this wasnt the case. My room was so dark that we had to put all the lights on in the room, we were on the 8th floor and had a view of scaffolding... More

We stayed in the Vermont last Thursday. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by an incredibly friendly and attentive concierge. Upon arrival, the young women at the check-in service were incredibly polite and very knowledgable about the hotel and the surrounding area. They assured us our luggage could be kept safe as we went to discover Newcastle. Mid-afternoon... More

When we arrived we were greeted by lovely staff and welcomed pleasantly into what looked like a top spec hotel. However as time went by the service went slowly downhill. The room was small and because of the heat outside it soon became unbearable. We rang for an extra fan and a member of staff rudely responded with 'you're lucky... More

Stayed at this hotel numerous times for a treat night away. First time we had an amazing view of the tyne bridge, and second time we got upgraded to a penthouse suite - again with a view of the river. Really central to all the clubs, bars and restaurants. Free parking too! Fab customer service, with an issue we had,... More

This appears to be a very grand and prestigous hotel and upon entering I was very optomistic of a good stay. The receptioist checked me in to a room on the top floor (11th floor -room 1102). When I entered the room I noted it was very hot and stuffy. I was most dissapointed to find that the room has... More

No more than average and at £129 for room only its expensive, noise level at weekends will keep you awake til 2-3 am. Staff on reception very curt. Also my daughter cut her finger on a tap with sharp metal sticking out and the reception staff just said "do you need a plaster sending up ? " not impressed at... More

We stayed at the Vermont for one night and it was perfect. The hotel is really smart and well located in Newcastle City Centre. We stayed in room 807 which was huge, including a lounge area, big bathroom and view over the Tyne Bridge. Breakfast was included in the price and certainly didn't disappoint. Would recommend the Vermont to anyone!

The location is great as it is very close to the train station and a beautiful castle. The hotel is a bit older and was going through renovations. The room was fine but I hope the overall quality will be higher once the renovations are completed.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Few hotels can boast a more enviable city centre postcode than the Vermont Hotel, for this imposing structure is located in the heart of the City of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, not only next to the Castle Keep and opposite the historic Moot Hall, but also just two minutes from Newcastle's Central Station. Combining old character in the form of 1930s grandeur with contemporary elegance and four-star luxury, the landmark building is your base from which to discover the many bars, shops and attractions of the town centre and wider area. Look outside your window and you might see such sights as the River Tyne, Millennium Bridge or stunning cathedral, and it's not the only mark of the sheer inspiration of the Vermont Hotel experience. That's because the reasons for the hotel's reputation become clear with a stay in any one of its sophisticated bedrooms, which are finished in soft relaxing colours while also coming with a wealth of facilities for your pleasure and comfort, including - among others - private en-suite bathrooms, a mini bar and free Internet access. ... more   less
